As there is no uniform standard to measure the dose of myopia control defocus lens, a simple and fast theory model EDI (equivalent defocus index) for evaluation of the dose is proposed. The parameters of the myopia control defocus lens which affect the visual performance are investigated by simulations in the optical software, then the definition of EDI is given. Three typical myopia control defocus lenses are evaluated by EDI and compared with modulation transfer function (MTF), which indicates the validity of EDI.

To systematically evaluate the effect of peripheral defocus spectacle lenses on adolescents’ myopia control in literature databases using a Meta-analysis approach. A computerized search of Chinese and English literature databases was conducted with a search time frame from the establishment to 2022-10. After methodological quality evaluation, six literature articles, including 1 021 children, were finally included, and Meta-analysis was performed using Revman 5.4 software. Results showed that peripheral defocus glasses were able to delay the growth of refraction and axial length in myopic children compared to single-vision lenses (SVLs), with statistically significant differences (P < 0.01). In the results of the subgroup analysis, only the first 12 months of follow-up with peripheral defocusing glasses were able to control the increase in refraction and axial length, with no significant difference in the second 12 months of follow-up. Peripheral defocus myopic control lenses can delay the development of the spherical equivalent refraction and growth of axial length in children and adolescents.

Measurement and judgment of pupillary distance and optical center distance of glasses were discussed. Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of pupil distance rulers and pupil distance meters from the perspectives of operational difficulty, measurement accuracy, resolution and cost, pupil distance meters would be the better choice. Combining relevant statistical data and examples to illustrate that spectacles using monocular pupillary distance had better visual correction. Measurement methods and notes of the optical center distance were introduced. The uncertainty of optical center horizontal distance measured with a ruler or caliper was evaluated, and the influence of uncertainty on compliance determination results was analyzed.

Myopia has a serious impact on individuals, families and society, and the existing works are difficult to meet the requirements of the state for myopia prevention and control, in the face of the new goals and new situations of myopia prevention and control in adolescents. The research pioneered the medical model of the whole industry chain of myopia prevention and control based on Internet data, collecting adolescent eye health data, light environment data and eye behavior data through the two ports of offline eye clinic terminal and smart device terminal, and uploading it to the eye health intelligent data integrated service platform. Finally, the analysis report is obtained by using the trend analysis of big data, so as to solve the four major pain points in the adolescent myopia prevention and control market, which is conducive to the formulation and implementation of the national myopia prevention and control policy.

Through the analysis of the existing talent training needs and job requirements, it is found that mismatches are between the curriculum setting and job demand in the vocational education of optometry and glasses, which may affect the employment prospects of students after graduation. By improving the “course-job” integration approach of vocational education in optometry and glasses, it is found that increasing practical activities, strengthening vocational skills training and introducing the latest technologies and tools can enhance the practical skills of students.
