The noise of wavefront sensor is a major noise source in adaptive optics system. Based on the infrared adaptive optics system at 2.16 m telescope, the photon counting noise of wavefront sensor which is photon counting shearing interferometer, and error propagation in the course of close loop are analysed in terms with servo control system. The noise power spectra, servo transfer function, the open loop and closed loop RMS noise error are deduced theoretically. The experimental results are presented.

In this paper, a spectral characteristic of two ring-three fiber mutually coupling filter has quantitatively analysed by assuming a total-amplitude coupling coefficient in the weakly and strongly coup0ling sections of the fused biconical structure to be equal to the amplitude coupling coefficient in the filtering network equations. The measured passband profile of the experimehntal filter is basically in agreement with the theoretical one. The measured center wavelength, regraction, half-power bandwidth and insertion loss of the investigated filter are 1.27 μm, >1.3 dB, 72 μm and 3.9 dB, respectively.Dark soliton pairs propagating in the birefringent fiber with the normal dispersion exchange the energy periodically by coupling between them. The energy of one dark soliton may be transformed to another, so the birefringent fiber can be used to make the optical switching. The switching condition for the birefringent fiber with the ellipticity angle 35° is discussed, and switching phenomenon only appears when the pulse is input with a special polarization angle. The formula related to the length of fiber, difference of phase and initial relative energy difference between the soliton paris are presented.

On the basis of the nonlinear schrodinger equation with the perturbation, the formulas are obtained diretly from the approximative 2 soliton solution to describe the soliton interaction in the practical optical fiber soliton communication. These formulas show that the soliton interaction in practical communication not only depends on their relative phase difference but also on the changes of their energy and velocity difference with the transmission distance. The extended soliton interaction theory can be applied to discuss generally how the perturbations impose effects on the interaction. And the extended theory also can give explanations to the experimental phenomenon about the short-range interaction and long-range interaction reported in Optical letters in 1987, 1989, 1990.

A visnal pattern recognition network and its training algorithm are proposed. The network is constructed of a one layer morphology network and a two layer modified Hamming net, which can implement invariant pattern recognition corresponding to image translation and size projection. After supervised learning, the visual network can extract image features and classify patterns. More over an optoelectronic architecture for real time pattern recognition is proposed.

Novel phase shift and carrier techniques for measurement of in-place displacement field are proposed. In shear beam ESPI (Electronic Speckle Interferometry) the illumination beam is split into two wave fronts by a prism. Laterally movements of the prism introduce phase shifts. A small angle wedge is set behind the prism. A rotation of the wedge produces carrier fringes. The movement of the prism or the wedge can be controlled precisely be mechanical or electrical mechanism. digital image processing algorithms, phase iteration and FTM (Fourier Transform Method), are used to extract defoemation information. Theores and thier experimental demonstrations are presented.

A new method combined aperture by in plane scanning laser sheet for reducing speckle in laser sheet 3 D sensing is suggested. Scanning the laser sheet within the sheet plane, a dynamic speckle field is shifted on the image lens of CCD camera. Image speckel is occurred on the image plane of CCD, the time integration of the CCD equals to averaging of the image speckle. So the speckle noise is reduced. This method is similar to the moving aperture within a "combined lens" on the image lens, which is larger than the actual aperture. An analytical description is presented and verified experimentally.

An ArF oscillator amplifier excimer laser was developted. Using a thyratron as a switch, discharge jitter of the laser system was effectivelly overcome through matching main charge and discharge circuits. It was achieved that amplify index 50 of the system, pulse energy 50 mJ, and a beam divergence lower than 0.20 mrad.

Considering the frequency dependence of waist size on the cavity modes, an analytical form of the ultrashort pulsed Gaussian beam is derived by using a complex temporal varible, which contains all the information about the spatial and temporal properties of the pulsed beam. The real part of the complex time gives the pulse traveling time, which is related to the wavefront. The imaginary part gives the information of spatial distribution and the crossed part gives the coupling between space and time on propagation of the pulse. Then the space-time characteristices of a transform limited Gaussian pulse and a Gaussian pulse with linear chirp are analyszed.

A new technique for fabricating continuous relief micro optics elements (MOEs) has been developed. At first, the binary pattern on the object plane is transformed into continuous grey image on the recording plate by using the exposure system with movable object plane. And then the silve image is in term transformed into harden laten image by using silve halide gelatin processing procedure. Finally, this laten image is developed by enzyme treating. The principle analysis and experimental demonstration are described as well in this paper.

The time response characteristics of negative nonlinear intercalation photoswitch are discussed based on the photo induced thermal effect. Under the adiabatic assumption the thermal conductivity equation and two other thermodynamics equations are applied to analyses the factors that influence its total internal reflection response time. With this theoretical model the materials referred by Strobl are calculated.

The dynamical properties of a three level cascade atom interacting with pair coherent state are studied. Both Rabi oscillation and the time evolution of the cross correlation function show collapse and revival phenomena whether the individual field modes are detuned from the intermediate atomic level or not, but the times of collapses increase quickly with increasing the detuning amount. We also observed that the modes of pair coherent state show both correlation and anticorrelation depending on the time of observation.

Organic Electroluminescent (OEL) devices using trivalent terbium (Tb)complex as emitter were fabricated. The cell structure was glass substrate/In SnO(ITO).poly(N vinylcarbazole)(PVK)/Tb complex/Al, the hole transport layer and the emitter were fabricated by spin coating on ITO and vacuum deposition, respectively. The EL spectrum consists of sharp emission lines from Tb 3+ ions. Luminance of 210 cd/m 2 was achieved at drive voltage of 15.4 V. This is the highest luminance so far we know, obtained from the OEL cells with Tb complex as emitter. The theory of rare earth's luminance is discussed through measuring and comparing the cell's spectra and electric property.
