Workshop on Micro and Nano-Structured Materials for Experiments with High-Power Lasers will take place in Lisbon, Portugal on 21 September 2024.
Structured materials have many applications in the physics of interaction with high-power lasers. On the one hand, micro-structured materials are used for inertial confinement fusion, particle acceleration, X-ray generation, study of the equations of state. Nano-structured materials, on the other hand, find many applications in particle acceleration physics with ultrashort lasers.
This Workshop is intended to be the place to discuss the different aspects of the research with these materials:
Experimental strategies and results
Theoretical modeling and numerical simulations
Material science and manufacturing
The meeting will be an occasion to generate constructive discussions among these topics, which should be interconnected, but which sometimes are considered separately.
This workshop is organized by the Laserlab-Europe AISBL Expert Group on "Micro- and nano-structured materials for experiments with high-power lasers" and supported by Laserlab-Europe AISBL.
