The feasibility of anti-submarine detection by IR imaging system is ensured because of the gradual maturation of IR FPA detector with large-array and high-sensitivity. The calculation and analysis indicate that the little difference of seawater temperature can be distinguished at certain distance and the large offing area can be quickly scanned with high frame frequency by IR imaging system based on FPA detector, and the system has good prospect in anti-submarine detection.

    Infrared imaging technology has been widely used in industrial inspection. The basic principles of infrared temperature measurement are introduced. And the principle of temperature raising, the damage of high heat wasting, the factors affecting imaging temperature are also demonstrated. Testing experiments on the illminating lines at channel foreside of furnace in electric power factory are made by AGEMA570 and cooling infrared imager with focus plane array detectors. The test results of the temperature and temperature difference raised at wire joints under special working temperature and circumstance temperature are reported. Practice experiments undergoing in the factory electric devices maintenance are given.

    The technology of computer simulation of low light level image has been used in testing the functions of night vision system, object identification, etc. It has high values in military affairs. The issue of optical imaging in low level of atmosphere and the influence of low light level CCD on the image are discussed. The external factors on low light level image is directly reflected through the comparison of simulated low light level images under different conditions.

    The defects in the inner wall of three dimensional hollow cylinder-shaped equipment are calculated by means of infrared technique and solution of inverse heat conduction, and correctness of the solution is proven. Inverse solution to find the geometric shape with partially unknown system will lead to the solution of one nonlinear algebraic equation under the condition of the given temperature of the surface. The Newton iterative method can be used to resolve this equation for determining the position and size of the defects accuratly.

    Plot-track association is the most important part in multi-sensor data fusion system. To improve the correct association rate, the infrared sensor is taken into the fusion system. The angle of infrared with high accuracy is fused with the range of radar with high accuracy. Thus the discrimination between the fused track and the real track becomes smaller and the accurate status estimation of the target is obtained. The algorithms for radar data association and for radar/infrared data association are discussed. The simulation is made to compare the performance of the two algorithms.

    Infrared imaging fuze of air-air missiles has been studied in the world just for a short time. Theories of fuze that how to image, how to process image and how to recognize target are imperfect now. An air-air missile infrared imaging fuze that shares some components of FLIR imaging seeker, such as FPA sensors and optical systems, is proposed. The remarkable characteristic of this fuze is the integration of guidance and fuzing. It has the functions of sorting targets, selecting aiming pointting and hitting unsubstantial place relating to aiming point. A fuzing control algorithm is addressed and some results of computer simulation are presented.

    The relationship between athermalizing infrared optical system and zoom lens is established. The process of designing a athermalizing infrared optical system could be regarded as a process of generalized zooming. The process of designing a generalized zoom lens is described in detail, and the correlative principles are deduced. This process consists of four steps, which are setting zoom positions in the system that satisfies image performance demand at normal temperature, entering private glass catalog at different temperatures, establishing relationship between different zoom positions and analyzing thermal effect, then adding factor that could eliminate thermal effect.

    The design and fabrication method for diffractive microlens array are studied. Based on the research achievement, 256×256 multi-phase diffractive microlens arrays are manufactured for 3~5 μm wavelength. Point spread function and diffractive efficiency of the designed multi-phase diffractive microlens arrays are measured. The diffractive efficiency of 8-phase and 16-phase quartz diffractive microlens arrays are 80.2% and 87.5% respectively, which suggests that the designed multi-phase diffractive microlens arrays can fulfill practical needs.

    New method of measuring dynamic frequency response of piezoelectric ceramic with interference is put forward. The theoretical analysis and experimental method are discussed and the experimental set-up is established. The system consists of a Twyman-Green interferometer and a photoelectric conversion and measuring system. It allows operation frequency up to 5kHz. The experimental results show that the method is simple, easy to achieve, and can be used to measure the dynamic frequency response property of piezoelectric ceramic in wide range with high precision.

    According to criterion of evaluating the laser beam quality of aerodynamic window(ADW) proposed by literature;, some corresponding methods of measuring the laser beam quality of ADW are proposed and analyzed. Experimental results show that the criterion of evaluating the laser beam quality of aerodynamic window and these experimental methods of measuring ADW's beam quality are feasible, and this evaluating criterion is independent of the type of aerodynamic window.

    Experimental measurement of transmission of fluoroaluminate glass under 3.8μm laser radiation is conducted and absorption coefficient is obtained theoretically. The DF laser induced damage threshold is measured experimentally and the result proves that the fluoride glass can sustain the impingement of DF laser with intensity over 1000W/cm;+2 when the duration time is 1s. Thermo-elastic theory and numerical method are applied to simulate the thermal and mechanical responding of fluoride glass to DF laser and the thermal stress induced crack is considered to be the main damage mechanism.     Laser spot detection is the key technique used in optical measurement. The precision and speed of the detection algorithm affect those of the optical measurement system directly. The traditional algorithms such as gravity model, Hough transform are unsatisfactory under some conditions. The laser spot detection algorithm referred in this paper is based on the LSM (least square method), and a circle is adopted to approximate the edge of the laser spot. Not only the center and radius can be detected simultaneously, but also the orientation precision is in the order of sub-pixels, and the speed is fast. The algorithm is suitable for real-time optical measurement.

    The influence of the factors such as tracking angular velocity, power and tracking precision on the determination of parameters of pointing, acquisition, tracking(PAT) subsystem for atmosphere optical communication is analyzed. The principles of how to determine the important parameters such as angle of beam divergence, scanning area and receiving field of view are also provided. The corresponding specifications of a PAT subsystem of optical communication system in a certain background of ground terminal are obtained.

    In the process of computing optical flow, the corresponding relationship among features of sequent images isn't required. So the technique is widely used in many fields of computer vision, such as parameter estimation of moving object and target tracking. But it's rarely used in infrared image because of the high noise. Optical flow fields of some real infrared images are computed using several usual methods. The results demonstrate that the optical flow field of target which is close to real situation can be obtained while suitable methods are selected or improved. The optical flow could be used in object segmentation, moving status analysis and target tracking of infrared images.

    According to the general idea of image geometric rectification, an effective method for control point (CP) auto-decision is presented. Firstly, definitions of reference control point (RCP) and distortion control point (DCP) are given, a RCP detection template is designed based on the variance of image. Relevant detection rules and searching scheme are proposed. Then, normalized product correlation image matching algorithm is adopted to implement precise locating of DCP which is homologous with the RCP in the distortion image, and flowchart of the method for CP auto-decision is given. Finally, simulation experiment is carried out by taking rotation transformation images as an example, the distortion model is accurately identified, and the feasibility and effectivity of the method are proven.

    In order to locate and recognize train numbers, the row projection method can be used to determine the location of skew row of train number. It is also found and proved that the planar correlation between template and scene approximately equals to the correlation of their vertical projection. A fast row scan recognition algorithm and a method of reliability estimation are designed based on this conclusion. Perfect results are obtained by using this technology even for pictures having complex background, verifying illumination, oblique numbers and bad number distributing.

    Car-plate locating is the first step of the recognition of car-plate. The accuracy of locating plays an important role in the next steps. An approach of car-plate locating based on color segmentation is presented. Firstly, the input picture is roughly segmented based on the color information, and some regions with the color of car-plate are obtained. Then the false regions in the result image is eliminated. At last, projection method is used to get the accurate position of the plate. The experimental result shows that the proposed method is quite effective.

    The key problem of accurate image segmentation and character extraction is to utilize information of both whole image and local sections as much as possible. Idea of drainage area based on whole image information takes account of local information when it is applied on gradient image. Excellent segmentation result and the ability of restraining image noise are obtained when this approach is used in the segmentation of object and background and the overall connectivity of object to be segmented is lead in. Advantages, such as simple principle, connected single pixel edge output, accurate edge orientation and simultaneous output of different signaled areas, are proven. The principle and mathematical description of the watershed algorithm are shown, and the disadvantages and resolving strategy are summarized.
