Measurement of LIDT in fluoride glass irradiated by CW DF laser and analysis of damage mechanism
Experimental measurement of transmission of fluoroaluminate glass under 3.8μm laser radiation is conducted and absorption coefficient is obtained theoretically. The DF laser induced damage threshold is measured experimentally and the result proves that the fluoride glass can sustain the impingement of DF laser with intensity over 1000W/cm;+2 when the duration time is 1s. Thermo-elastic theory and numerical method are applied to simulate the thermal and mechanical responding of fluoride glass to DF laser and the thermal stress induced crack is considered to be the main damage mechanism. The application perspective of fluoride glass as laser material window is evaluated at last
