The CGH/WRD system (computer generated hologram/wedge-ring shaped detector) were synthesized with CGH and CCD devices. It allows separation of the detector shape function from the detection function. The use of OGH makes it considerable flexibility in the detetion process. The design considerations are presented in detail with some experimental results on pattern recognition.

Based on the cross-spectral density function, this paper discussed the Lau effect of the plane-periodic object. First, we derived the light intensity distribution of the Lau image of the general plane-object,, then that of the Lau image of the plane-periodic object and the Lau imaging conditions. These coditions contain the Lau Separation and the angle restricted condition. Finally we give out the experimental results.

A simiplified method is presented for analyzing the optical characteristics of the mode in the aaymmtric five-layer MOS optical waveguied with finite thicknesses of the metal cladding and the oxide buffer layer. The approximate formulas are derived for calculating the propagating constant and the absorption loss coefficient of the TE mode. Compared with the calculated results, the accuracy of this method is determined. In order to realize the single-mode propagation in the waveguide with low absorption loss coefficient of the TE mode. Compared with the calculated results, the accuracy of this method is determined. In order to realize the single-mode propagation in the waveguide with low absorption loss the selections of some guided parameters are discussed.

Gain-switching dynamics of laser diode array (LDA) end-pumped Nd:YAG lasers was studied in detail by means of mathematical calculation of the rate equtions. Pulsed laser output at 1.06 4μm wavelength with peak power of nearly 200 mW and pulse width less than 200 ns has been obtained by gain switching of a LDA (λP = 0.808μm) end-pumped Nd:YAG laser. The experimental results are in agrement with those of theoretical calculations.

In this paper we have investigated the influence of atomic coherence on collapse and revival phen omenon in the k-photon Jaynes-Cummings model. It has shown that the atomic inversion exhibits the dependence on the relative phase between the atom and field.

The concept of a new type wavefront sensor-rotating soft knife edge wavefront sensor has been proved with Fourier optics theory. At the region of knife edge, the step function of transmittance has been replaced by gradual variation function. As results, at the pupil image plane, the modulation signal which responds both amplitude and orientation of phase gradient of the detected wavefront at pupil plane can be obtained. Experimental results are also given.

y using the hyperbolic grading function and taking account of the potential varies near the surface of photocathodes caused by an applied bias, the Conduction band structures at the heterojunction interface for a field-assisted InP/InGaAsP/InP Semiconductor photocathode are analysed and calculated in this paper. The profile curves of conduction band structure at the heterojunction interface with the different parameters of materials have been obtained. In order to achieve the perfect transmission efficiency at heterojunction, the calculation resultes have shown the conditions for the thickness and the doping concentrotion of the emission layer, the doping concentrotion of the absorption layer, as well as the grading width at the heterojunction interface and the applied bias. The results are helpful to designing field-assisted semiconductor photocachode and choosing material parameters.

Based on the principles of laser diode linear frequency modulation heterodyne interference and frequency division multiplexing, the multiplexing technique of the optical fiber displacement sensor is studied. A two-dimension-multiplexing optical fiber displacement sensor is designed and fabricated. The problem of the crosstalk of signals is studied. The experiment proves that the cross-term of the sensor is smaller than 0.02μm and the measurement accuracy of each channel is 0.05μm.

This paper reports the theoretical and experimental study on a Rb atomic Faraday resonance optical filter (AFROF). Considering Rb atomic hyperfine Zeeman splittings, we analysed theoretically the transmission performance of Rb-AFROF. The changes of the operation frequency and bandwidth of Rb-AFROF with magnetic fields and temperature are observed. The results show that the bandwidth is smaller than 3 GHz, ths transmission efficiency -50%, the minimum detected light power -0.1μW.

This paper describes the variation of coupled power with wavelength in the etched fused asymmetric single-mode couplers by using variational technique. According to the fibler parametera and sectional dimensions we analyzed the wavelength response of our lightly fused coupler using effective parallel waveguides. The theoretical curve of the wavelength-flattened coupler is in good agreement with the experimental results. The analysis indicates that the wavelength response of the coupler is sensitive to the diameter ratio of two fibres and the coupling length. This also agrees with the experiment.

Based on the results in previous paper, we further discussed the above-threshold lonzation (ATI) of atom under intnse laser field with realistic pulse shape. Affter considering the influence of initical ionization time, it is more clear that the red shift and brodening of ATI peaks appear as the laser pulse width changes from long to short regime.

In this paper, the small-signal response of a CO2 laser to cavity length modulation has been investigated. The results show Satisfactory agreement between theor etical and experimental studies on the effect of modulation of dynamical parameters. In this paper, the multi-level theoretical model is used to a typical CO2 laser. The dynamical parpameters of the laSer are precisely determined by fitting this theory with the experimentally measured curves.

By using a mode-locked picosecond pulse laser at 532 nm and a time-resolved detection system, we have measured the time-resolved ptotoluminescence spectra of InαGa1-αAs/GaAs single quantum well samples at 77K with different excitation powers. At low excitation, the photoluminescence peak of InGaAs well shows small shift with, the time. But at 175 mW excitation, there is a great blue shift of the photoluminescenoe peak at the beginning and shift back to the longer wavelength side with the time. The result clearly shows the band-filling effect of the carriers exising in the well.
