Advanced Imaging

Submissions Open: April 1 2025

Submission Deadline: August 1 2025

Computational imaging (CI) and artificial intelligence (AI) are leading the next revolution of machine vision. Essentially, computational imaging systems consist of encoding and decoding parts, in which the coding method plays a pivotal role.  While the decoding part has been advanced significantly by artificial intelligence, it is highly demanded to develop new coding methods. Thanks to the emerging materials and devices, various techniques have been employed into the end-to-end computational imaging systems such as meta surface and nano devices. Furthermore, this has also inspired new sensors.

This special issue in Advanced Imaging will focus on emerging coding methods for computational imaging, which includes but not limited to the following topics:

  • New coding methods for computational imaging
  • Coded aperture imaging
  • New reconstruction algorithms
  • Meta-surface imaging
  • Nano devices for computational imaging
  • Computational sensors
  • Hyperspectral imaging, 3D imaging
  • X-ray imaging, holography, tomography

All submissions need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer review processes of the journal. Please prepare manuscripts according to the Submission Guidelines for Advanced Imaging and submit through the online submission system for the Journal, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the special issue on Emerging Coding Method for Computational Imaging. APCs for the published articles in Advanced Imaging will be waived through 2025.
