Silicon 3.2/6.4 Tbps micro-ring modulator array chip with wavelength multiplexed and port multiplexed for high-capacity optical transmitting [Early Posting]
In this paper, we demonstrate a silicon micro-ring modulator array chip with eight-wavelength multiplexed and four-port multiplexed. The input light is divided into four equal parts. The modulated light with eight different wavelengths was combined into one output port through a wavelength multiplexer, which consists of a three-stage cascaded asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The number of modulation channels is 32. All micro-ring modulators can support 200 Gb/s PAM-4 modulation with off-line digital signal processing. The total transmit data rate is up to 6.4 Tb/s. These results indicate that this paper provides a potential solution for the future 3.2/6.4 Tb/s optical interconnects.
