The stability of feature vectors based on SVD decomposition is very low because the target's size, and direction have been changed. Based on scale SVD transform, a target feature extracting method is proposed to solve this difficult problem. The experimental result shows that this method has favorable stability to target matrix's SVD feature vectors, and high invariant property to displacement, rotation and scale. It is a practical feature extracting method.

    In this paper the simulation test facilities and technologies for USAF Electronic Warfare Evaluation System, US Army Aviation & Missile command Advanced Simulation Center and US Navy Simulation Laboratory are described. The simulators being used in America are divided into two types: one is the optic-mechanical system, another is computer scene generation system. The latter will be the development trend in the future, and can be achieved in three ways: resistor array, laser diode, and thermal converter. It is suggested that both optic-mechanical system and computer scene generation system should be used in our Electro-optical simulation test facilities.

    The infrared imaging guided missile has abilities of target capturing, recognizing and tracking automatically under a complex background. It is a powerful weapon to attack ground fixed targets. In this paper, the target tracking mechanism for infrared imaging guided weapon is analyzed, and a new concept of antagonizing infrared imaging guided weapons by dynamic distortion camouflage technology for a fixed target is proposed.

    To test the real-time performance of IR camera, seeker and other IR detector systems in lab, the Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) Simulation system can be used. The core of HWIL simulation system is IR scene generator. An overview of IR scene generation technologies including resistor array, IR laser diode array projector and light modulation technology etc. is provided. Then the resistor array, which is rapidly developed and most promising, is thoroughly discussed. This includes a discussion of its latest development, key technologies and its future. The performance of some devices is also provided for comparison.

    Projective invariants are independent of viewpoints, intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters and common used in computer vision gradually. The stability of the projective invariants is very important for the construction of the model library. It is related to the quality of the images, the precision of the feature extractor and the numerical computation. In this paper, cross ratios of the four collinear points and five coplanar points were analyzed first, then some affecting factors were concluded, and some constraints were proposed on constructing model-based object recognition system. The experiments show that the stability of the projective invariants designed under these constrains is improved highly.

    A direction discrimination technique for laser Doppler measurements, called two-phase detecting, is discussed. The intensity distribution of the single-period rectangular phase grating diffraction pattern is calculated. The diffraction efficiency of a phase grating is compared with that of an amplitude grating with same grating constant. A laser Doppler grating vibrometer based on the two-phase detecting technique and the rectangular phase grating is experimentally researched. The operation principle of this instrument and the related signal processing are explained in detail. Some typical experimental results in agreement with the theoretical analysis are given.

    The theoretical analysis and experimental verification of the principle of re-entrant IOG were carried out here. The experimental setup for analog simulation was established with Sagnac Sensing Ring (SSR) length of 20m. Based on the analysis of open loop output signal of the system, the signal of re-entrant part was verified. In order to get the high order re-entrant signal, a new modulation method using square waveform which duty ratio is not equal to 0.5 was suggested, in which the corressponding order of re-entrant signal was biased at maximum sensitivity. It provides a way to solve the problems in signal readout from ARE-IOG and PRE-IOG.

    A new ring laser diode gyroscope (RLDG) is reported in this paper, which combines the advantage of simple configuration of ring laser gyroscope (RLG) and lower cost of fiber optical gyroscope (FOG). The resolution of the RLDG and its relations with other parameters of RLDG are analyzed theoretically. The signal readout method is discussed. A monolithic RLDG with 40mm diameter is proposed. Its resolution can be up to 0.032 rad/s theoretically.

    As the application of optical fiber is boasting, higher quality optical fibers are required in some application fields. Some pinhole defects such as air bubbles, caused during the manufacture of optical fiber, may have severe (or fatal) impacts on precision instruments because of affecting the optical fiber's toughness and signal propagating along the fiber. Therefore, it is very important to detecting the defects in optical fiber using an effective, non-touched, on-line and fast method. A hybrid opto-electronic joint transform correlator (JTC) is competent to do it. The key using the JTC is how to improve discrimination of the detection system. In this paper, through investigating the characteristics of digital joint power spectrum of optical fiber, two data processing methods to improve discrimination of the system are proposed, which are reducing joint-power-spectrum DC item method and binarizing joint power spectrum method. The experimental results show that both methods can greatly increase SNR and reduce the intensity of central peak of the correlation output,and largely improve discrimination probability of the detection system.

    Night vision technology includes low-light-level image intensifier (L+3I+2) technology and thermal image technology. Uncooled thermal imaging (UTI) technology is one of the newest achievements of infrared thermal imaging technology. Characteristics of L+3I+2 and UTI technologies are compared in the paper, and then the advantages, development of UTI technology and its importance in night vision technology are discussed.

    There has been a surprising improvement in uncooled microbolometer infrared focal plane array(UMBIRFPA) overseas. Compared with other infrared detectors, microbolometer is more promising in commercial use. The research work on UMBIRFPA has been a hot spot in our country. Its physical model and theoretical calculation are introduced in this paper. The thermal equilibrium equation is acquired using the theories of black radiation and heat transfer, and the numerical result is achieved by using MATLAB software. The analysis indicates that thermal conductivity, thermal capacity, bias mode are key points in designing uncooled microbolometer.

    BST ferroelectric thin films with perovskite structure on Pt/Ti/SiO-2/Si substrate have been fabricated by improved sol-gel processing. The dielectric constant ε-r and dielectric loss tgδ of BST5, BST10, BST15 were 375, 400, 425 and 0.041, 0.024, 0.010, respectively. Their remanent polarization P r and coercive field E c were 2μc/cm+2, 2.5μc/cm+2, 1.7μc/cm+2 and 40kV/cm, 50kV/cm, 35kV/cm, respectively. BST ferroelectric thin film is a kind of excellent material for uncooled infrared focal plane array.

    The minority carrier lifetime is the key parameter of the semiconductor material. Through the study of minority carrier lifetime, the recombination mechanism of the carriers can be understood, thus the material can be sampled effectively. The yield and the performance of infrared detector will be raised. The minority carrier lifetime measuring system is designed by the method of photoconductive decay (PCD). The double refracting-reflecting optical system is adopted, so the sideview and bottom view of metal Dewars can be used for testing. There are two testing methods: Auto-test and Semi-Auto test. The range of the measuring system is from 1×10-7~6×10-6sec.. The diameter of measured sample must be less than 20mm.

    The design method of the drive circuit of 320×240 uncooled infrared focal plane array (UFPA) and circuits of converting the analog output of UFPA to digital signal are proposed. Xilinx's XC9500 Series complex programmable logic device is adopted to design the timing circuit so that the drive circuit could be made in miniature design. It's flexible and easy to use VHDL language to design and make change in the research progress. TI's A/D converter THS1408 is used to convert the 5.5M analog output of UFPA to digital signal right after the UFPA, so that the transfer disturbance is greatly reduced. This paves the way for the production of 320×240 staring uncooled IR thermal imager in China.

    Speckle noise on synthetic aperture radar image is inevitable. Understanding the SAR image becomes very hard because of the existence of speckle noise, and thus the application of SAR image is influenced severely. There are many methods to restrain the speckle noise in image domain. In frequency domain, there are methods based on FFT transform and WT transform. In this paper, according to the special characteristics of SAR image of desert area, a method based on wavelet package is proposed and compared with other filter methods. The image processing results show that this method restrains the noise effectively, and the edge information of the image is also retained well.

    VXI bus is a protocol being widely used in auto-testing and other multi-instruments system. In this paper, the characteristics of the protocol are analyzed, and a modularizing approach is proposed based on its ability of tailoring. On the basis of this, a modularized message-based VXI bus interface logic is implemented in FPGA. The design heritability is enhanced greatly. To prove the reliability and validity of the approach, the simulated timing diagrams generated by FPGA are presented. It is used in a multi-DSPs real-time image processing system, in which the VXI bus interface logic is used for system resource management and simple message interaction between modules. At the end of the paper, a real tested bus timing diagrams are presented to prove that the proposed approach and its implementation can provide satisfying bus bandwidth.

    A new method to select the reference map for mission planning of unmanned aircraft navigated by scene matching is presented. The method depends on the matching probability and the feature of the reference map, such as independent pixel numbers, variance, pattern energy ratio and cross-correlation peak. Finally an example of reference map is programmed, the experimental result is almost the same as the test result which is based on satellite images sensed in different time.
