A semiolassioal theory oil interaction process in optical fiber amplifier is presented. With the theory, relationships between the gain coefficient and the amplifier parameters, such as fiber V parameter, pump power, signal power, the unmbers of doped atoms in, unit volume and gain saturation parameter, etc. are studied in detail.

In this paper, the interference of multimode fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer-(FFPI) is analyzed, and the influences of the bend loss, the coherence of light source as well as the coupling efficiency on the legibility of the interference pattern are discussed. It is shown that the theoretical analysis are in agreement with the experimental results.

In this paper the formulae of coupling power in tunable polishing optical-fiber couplers have been derived, with ibs top-quartz block moving along the longitudinal or lateral direction and revolving round the vertical axis against the bottom-quartz block. Thereby, counterpointtolerances and a device-design basis for various tunable polishing optical-fiber couplers are given as well.

A new optical system for symbolic substitution is proposed. The system is composed of the lensless shadow-casting system comibined with optical logical array and optical image storage elements. The light-emitting diodes (IED) are used as both a light source and a control element in the operation, so that symbolic substitution is implemented by all-photoelectric manipulation. Experimental principle, procedure and result are given.

In this paper, principles of linewidth reduction of external cavity semiconductor lasers are analyzed. Linewidth measurement is performed by the Delayed Self Heterodyne Method. It is obtained experimentally that laser linewidth is reversely proportional to laser output power and external cavity feedback level.

The free-electron laser interaction length has been increased to 1190 mm from 308 mm by using a recently developed bifilar-herix wiggler with length 1.3m and a appropriate axial magnetic coil. The laser radiation output peak power of 12MW and electronic efficiency of have been obtained in our experiment.

In this paper a complete small signal analysis for semiconductor laser frequency chirping in the presence of optical fiber ring feedback is presented. It shows that the chirp-to-power ratio (CPR) strongly dependents on the optical coupling and the phase detuning especially when modulation frequency is below gigahertz.

In this paper we made a study of ray propagation and transformation through a conical GRIN rod lens with spherical end surfaces based on the formula of ray refraction on the spherical surfaces and the ray equation. On the basis of the ray transmitting matrix obtained an equivalent optical system of the conical GRIN rod lens with spherical end surfaces is proposed. The formulas for determing the principal planes, focal planes and the focal lengths are derived and the paraxial imaging Gaussian formula is also given. All the results can b? applied to the oylindrioal or radial GRIN rod lens while the tapej: is made zero.

In this paper, the working principles and fabricating methods of hybrid large current fiber sensor have been described. The hybrid large current fiber sensor consists of a LED as light sourse, PIN as light receiver, flint glass as magnetic inductor and multimode fiber as light conductor. This sensor can be used for monitoring the current in high voltage electric net and the applied range is 102-104A with accuracy of ±0.5%.

Using a flat T1AP crystal speotrograph,we have recorded photographically the X-ray spctrum of laser-produced copper plasma in the range of 8-14A. According to Moseley rule combined with the method of rederiving wavelength from some known transitions, we have classified about one hundred new spectra of CuXXII, which belong to the transitions 2P338 → 2822P4 and 2P33D → 2S22P4. The uncertainty of the calculated result is less than 5 mA. Compared with the experimental one.

Films of ZnS and MgP2 have been prepared by Ar-ion assisted deposition. The packing density of the MgF2 films has been increased from-0.8 without ion-bombardment to 0.9-0.95 with bombardment as determined by:the wavelength-shift measurement after moisture adsorption of filter. Experiment found thatabsorption and scattering losses increased with the high energy ion (>lkeV) bombardment and the low energy ion(<0.7 keV) bombardment is shown to increase significantly the abrasion resistance and adherence of films without significantly degrading their optical performance. This technique is of important for application in praparing durable coatings on temperature sensitive substrates.

The refractive indices of some liquid and gas were measured by using one and two-side leaky mode method. Liquid or gas wag driped or filled between prism and substrate, so that these three layers media formed one or two sides leaky weveguide. The mode refractive indices of resonant modes were measured by using the prism coupler, and the refractive index of the liquid or gas was determined from corresponding mode equations. Measure(?) results shown that errors of the refractive indices are with in 1~3×10-4. The measnremenli accuracies were analysed and discussed theoretically.

Damage threshold of TiO/SiO2 and ZrO2/SiO2 coatings with different structures——A(HL)mHG,A[(2p+1)HL]m(2p+1)HG and A[H(2q+1)L]mHG——were measured. The results showed a strong dependence of damage resistance on coating design. Generally, an increase in film thickness of the high refracting component (especially up to p=2) lends to a strong decrease in the laser damage resistance, while all the systems had an increase in damage threshold with enhancing thickness of the low refracting component up to q=2. The damage threshold of the q=3 systems is oommonly higher than that of q=0 systems, but lower than q=2 systems. For the systems with q greater than 3’ the damage resistanoe decreases very quickly, being much lower than thati of the standard systems wiih q=0.
