A new approach of image matching based on optical logic operation is proposed. The best match is indicated by the minimum collected transmitted light intensity resulted from optical XOR logic operations between the input image and every stored image. Polarization coding and multi- imaging technique are employed in our optoelectronic system. Experimental results are presented.

The charge transport parameter φμτ of the photorefractive crystal barium strontium titanate (Ba1-x SrxTiO3, BST) has been measured by means of two-beam coupling technique. The photorefractive response time for an intensity of 1 W/cm2 at 515 nm has been determined to be 0.5 s. The functional variable for the rate of grating formation has been corrected by taking into account of intensity-dependent absorption coefficient of the crystal. The fitted values of the dark conductivity σd and the charge transport parameter φμτ have been obtained to be 1.0×10-11 (Ωcm)-1 and 2.8×10-10 cm2/V, respectively.

A Q-switched Nd:YLF laser pumped by home-made MQW-LDA was developed. Pulse width, peak power were studied as functions of pumping energy, modulated depth, optical delay and reflectivity of the output coupling mirror in detail. Stable Q-pulse output (fluctuation <1%) was obtained with pulse energy of 0.8 μJ, FWHM of 70 ns, repetition of 100 Hz and optical to optical efficiency of 2.5%. When Q-switch and gain switch were applied the peak pulse power was increased and pulse width decreased. A comparison of experimental data with rate-equation theory was made, and agreed well.

Reverse saturable absorption (RSA) was obtained in the solution of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) by using a 532 nm Q-switched laser. Two seady-state expressions describing reverse saturable absorption for the thin sample and the thick sample, respectively, have been obtained by using the rate equation theory. The theoretical analysis is consistent with the experimental result.

In this paper, the experimental results of an angle tuning KTP single-resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO) are reported and analysed. The SHG of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is used as pump source. Limited by the bandwidth of the cavity mirror coatings the tunable range is 785~1010 nm. The maximum output pulse energy is 2.4 mJ. The maximum energy conversion efficiency is 26.3%.

The Ce:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals were grown from meit by czochraski technique. Their holographic diffraction efficiency of phase conjugate reflectivity were measured and analysed by means of two-wave mixing and degenerate four-wave mixing. The optical associative memory in which Ce:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals were used as a storing element and a phase conjugate mirror was obtained.

The influence of KCl on the orientation of the Uracil molecules adsorbed on the grey aqueous silver sol has been studied by means of surface enhaned Raman scattering (SERS) spectra. The experimental results have been compared with those of W. S. Oh's in detail and discussed analytically. It is shown that the molecules of Uracil lay flat on the silver surface, while, after adding a small volume of an aqueous solution of KCl to the silver sol solution, the molecules of uracil under go a reorientation from flat-lying state to the state of perpendicular to the surface Via O-4.

In this paper, an optimal solution for the problem of geodesic lenses with smooth rim was given. The meridional curve is smooth and not singularity, the curvature radius of the rim at the edge of geodesic lens tends to infinite. Therefore the rim shape is optimal and bend loss of rim is minnimized. Because the optimal solution is better than other solutions in analitical form the analitical method for designing geodesic lenses has been developed and perfected.

This paper presents a novel method based on projection moire deflectometry for the visualization and quantitative evaluation of full-field density and temperature variations in phase object. The basic principle and operation of this optical system are discussed. The measurement for phase object by method is given. The proposed setup is characterized by its simplicity, in-expensiveness and versatility. It can handle large observation areas. These facts make it attractive in flow visualization, heat and mass transfer measurements.

Absorption spectra of ZnSe-ZnTe strained-layer superlattices were measured at room temperature. Two step-like absorption edges corresponding to the transitions from the first heavy- and light-hole to the first electron level were observed. The valance band offset of ZnSe-ZnTe superlattices were determined from the band gap of the superlattice to be 1.10 eV.

In this paper the frequency offset-locking techniqe of CO2 laser, one of the element techniques in CO2 laser heterodyne is studied. Beat frequency locking between two CO2 lasers with free oscillation has been realized. Having taken some measurement to reduce the affection of circumstance, the frequency traceability of 0.5 kHz (τ=10 s) has been obtained. Its central frequency can tuned continuously in the range of 2~20 MHz.

This paper reports the experimental investigation on the local thermal equilibrium (LTE) characteristics of 25 kW argon wall-stabilized arc plasma using spectroscopic method. The results show that the plasma is at least of PLTE in the experimental conditions, and basically of LTE when the pressure is larger than 0.05 MPa and the currents are higher than 50 A. The half-width is only dependent on the electronic density and independent on the plasma state.
