Confocal and non-confocal negative branch unstable reaonators with an intracavity spatial filter have been applied to a high-gain short-pulse UV preionized XeCl laser. The near-and far-field radiation characteristicis have been investigated in both configurations for different spatial filter diameter values. Laser beams of quite high brightness and with a regular intensity spatial profile have been obtained, in Particular laser beams of higher brightness have been obtained with uon confocal schemes. A maximun beam brightness of 1.3×1014 W/(cm2s) has been achieved. A low sensitivity to mirror misalignments has also been observed.

In this paper the factors of αp and δp are introduced to describe the effects of optical field longitudinal nonunlformity on threshold conditions. The rate equation model including spatial hole burning is established, and the expression of IM and FM response within small signal approximation are derived. The relationships between threshold condition of ideal DPB laser diodes and the average photon density in laser cavity are obtained numerically. The numerical analysis show that spatial hole burning affects the modulation properties greatly, and FM reponse depends on the bais current. In order to get wider modulation band width proper bais injection current should be chosen.

The technique of a single-mode fiber coupling with a Travelling-wave Semiconductor Laser Amplifier (TW-SLA) was investigated theoretically. A set of simple and useful formulas were developed for designing the fiber ends. The coupling characteristics of the fibers having hemispherical sphere ends (HE), inter-taper-with-hemisphere ends (IE) and outer-taper-with hemisphere ends (OE) wore compared each other and analyzed. It was confirmed that the coupling efficiency a from fiber into TW-SLA chip is much greater for the cases of IE and OE than for HE, with OE being the most efficient. A -3 dB coupling loss between fiber and TW-SLA chip has been obtained with the optimum fiber ends in our experiments.

Self-pumped phase conjugate in Co-doped (K0.5Na)0.2(Sr0.75Ba0.25)0.9Nb2O6 crystal was demonstrated without external reflection mirrors, pumping beam and applied field. Its phase conjugation reflectivities as high as 40% were measured. The threshold power was lower than 0.02 W/cm2, The device operated by one-region four-wave mixing using the photorefractive effect with the trapezoid-cut crystal.

Efficient second harmonic generation from pulsed parametric laser to 427-470 nm has been obtained in a KNbO3 crystal of in 1.5 mm length, by angular tuning at room temperature. The energy conversion efficiency is over 40%, Single pulse blue light z-eaohes 60 kW in peak power. Angular dependence of phase matching wavelength, the relation between conversion efficiency and fundamental intensity and acceptable angular phase mismatch are studied and discussed.

A new kind of third-nonlinear optical Langmuir-Blodgett films is reported in this paper, And in which an interesting phenomenon, multiple forwavd optical phase conjugate wave (FPCW) outputs using BOXCABS degenerate four-wave-mixing, technique has been observed, This way to obtain multiple FPCWs is considered as a simple method to inverstigate the third-nonlinearities of thin films and some special applications in optical image processing are expected.

A uniform linear monochromatic soft X-ray source is created by combining a X-ray pinhole transmission grating spectrometer with a uniform line-fooused laser produced plasma. As an application of such X-ray source, a new method is described for calibration of X-ray photographic film that the response of film density versus relative exposure is provided by a step wedge filter foil of known thickness and transmissivity at a given wavelength. Based on this method, the 5F X-ray film is calibrated for the first time in the soft X-ray region.

The design of a series of UV or DUV lithography lenses is described in this paper. Below 365nm region, the bandwidth of these lenses is wider than that of abroad UV lithgraphy lenses, and these lenses have higher NA also. The free-running (unnar-rowed) excimer laser or meroury-xenon short are lamp can be used as illumination-source, even the through-lens alignment system can be used in these lithography lenses.

Amorphous GaSb thin film have been prepared by rf-magnetron sputtering. The effects of ther mally-induoed phase change of the film on its optical properties and miorostruoture have been studied systematically. It is found that amorphous GaSb thin films change to polycrgstalline state with cubic structure (α0 = 0.6095 nm) around annealing temperature 270℃, and the optical gap changs from 0.7(eV) to 0.94 (eV) after the phase change. The cauve of GaSb thin film resistance versus annealing temperature is measured by fourprobe method. And write-once recording properties and laserinduced phase change of the GaSb thin film have been studied.

Resonance enhanced stimulated four-photon mixing and optical free induction decay have been first demonstrated in Er3+ doped silica fibers under the excitation of a 1064 nm laser. The enhancement of anti-Stokes of stimulated four-photon mixing by the excited state 4I11/2 of Er3+ has been confirmed in frequency- and time-domain.

The F-C factors, spontaneous radiation coefficients and fluorescence spectra corresponding to the 23∏g-as∑u+ transition in Li2 were calculated by the calculated RKR potential curves of the 23∏g and a3∑u+ states and soluting of the molecular vibrational schrodinger equation, thereby following the spectra of diffuse band stimulated radiation were gotten. The calculated results wore a match for the experiment in which diifuse band stimulated radiation was generated by two-photon exciting Li2.

One-photon persistent spectral hole-burning was reported for the organic guest molecule 5, 10, 15, 20-tetra-(p-hydroxyphenyl) prorphin (THP) doped into a poly (methylmethaorylate) (PMMA) amorphous matrix at liquid helium temperature. Hole properties and conditions for hole formation were investigated. Laser induced tautomerization was believed responsible for the hole burning. Stability of the holes was demonstrated longer than hours. Hole erasing and repeatable hole burning were realized.

In this paper, we study the structure distortion, including the atomic potential, energy level and wavefunotion of hydrogen atom in a strong converging laser field of linear polarization. It is shown that the modified atomic potential is equal to a potential decided by an oscillating spherical surface with maximum radius of R0∝I1/2ω-2 and nuclear charges. With such a new potential, the atomic energy levels shallow and split, the wavefunction undergoes strectching in space drastically.

The influences of extinction coefficient of refractive index, roughness of the interfaces and index heteogeneities of an optical thin film waveguide on the attenuations of guided modes are analysed theoretically in this paper. Based on the characteristics of the attenuation coefficients of diffioient modes due to these imperfaotion factors, a new method is proposed to seperate the absorption loss and scattering loss of the thin film.
