Method for fabricating proton-exchanged LiTaO3 optical waveguides in pyropho-sphoric acid below 300℃ was reported for the first time. The effective diffusion coefficient is measured as D=D0 exp(-Ea/kT) with Do of 3.91×106μm2/h and the activation energy Ea of 0.74V, and waveguide parameters were also measured. The experimental results show that only the extraordinary index is increased and the propagation loss in the TM single-mode waveguides as low as 0.1 dB/cm at 633 nm. It is found that the surface extraordinary index is increased after annealing.

A new method of ture color rainbow holography called color coding reproduction of 3D diffused object is presented. By means of a single-wave length laser to encode three Fresnel holograms recorded with three primary color lasers, a ture color rainbow hologram of 3D object is produced on only the same type of recording material with one shot of a single wave length laser.

Based on the principle of light extinction, two light extinction methods Independent model and dependent model method, for measuring the particle size distribution are persented in this paper. These methods have overcome the diffcu-ties of present light extinctions methods which can only measure mean diameter of particles and have limited measurable ranges and ambiguous measurement results, Moreover, the independent model light extinction method can measure the multi-peak polydispersion size distribution of particles. Numerical calculation and experimental research have shown the precision of the measurement results.

In this paper a physical mechanism of free-electron interacting with electromagnetic fields at guide magnetic field and variable Wiggler field is given on the basis of the relativistio Lorentz equation under the condition of interaction between electrons neglected. Methods of elevating the energy-transfer rate are discussed by varying the parameters of guide or Wiggler fields.

Through analysizing the experimental results of the lithinm-like Si11+ ion soft X-ray laser obtained at different pumping laser irradiances and the spectral characteristics of the other Li-like ions which maybe have gains, we find that it is much possible to obtain an amplifier in the 'water window' region at the existing driving laser facilities.

The angle dependence of the self-pumped phase conjugation (SPPO) reflectivity is regarded as a result of the angle dependence of exponential gain TWM in BaTiO3 crystal through measuring and analysing. The theory of double-region coupling of SPPC is explained in detail by using total internal reflection at a corner. It ia pointer that the frequency shift resulted from pump light oscillation between the two interaction regions. The threshold property of forming the SPPC is presented.

Guided wave second-harmonic (SH) generation can not be phase matched automatically by Cerenkov radiation scheme. There is still phase-matching condition to be satisfied in case of the SH generation in radiation mode of the waveguide. The phase matching condition is so critical that all the fundamental wave (the driving source), the generated SH wave, and the free SH wave multiply reflected and transmitted across the boundaries of the waveguide have to keep in phase. This kind of phase matching can be obtained by typical waveguide technique, i.e. to change the boundary condition. With the unsymmetrical slab waveguide scheme, phase matching can be achieved by simply changing the cover material with different index. The formula is given.

By discussing intensity distribution, and Strehl's ratio before and after perfect phase compensation with a rube-mirror, the limitations of amplitude fluctuation on adaptive optics system are analysed. Although phase distortion can be corrected perfectly, there is a theoretical limit on compensation because the amplitude distortion can not be compensated. A general expression of the limit Strehl's ratio which is variated in whole region of fluctuation is derived. The theories show that the corrected peak intensity is only half of the diffraction intensity when amplitude fluctuation is maximum, the lowest value of the Strehl's ratio limit is 0.5.

By using the analogy between temporal ray matrix and the well known ray matrix, the temporal Fresnal number, which gives the qualitative and quasiquantita-tive characteristics (shape, width and chirp) of optical pulses, is derived. A concept of "effective propagation time" is introduced. Several typical examples are discussed.

We have demonstrated the self-pumped phase Conjugate mirrors of Cu-doped KNSBN crystals. The phase conjugate reflectivity reaches as high as 65% for the crystal with Cu-doped 0.04wt%. The phase conjugate reflectivity and its response time were also measured as a function of the Argon-ion laser wavelengths.

The results of Raman measurement on KCl:Pb2+ and Rb01:Pb2+ single crystals after long X-irradiation at 77K are reported in this paper. Based on the polarized Raman data and by using so-called Behavior Type analysis method, the Raman signals with frequency shift 284cm-1 in KCl:Pb2+ and 270 cm-1 in RbCl: Pb2+ are assigned to the inelastic scattering of HD center with a dynamical mode C1h(010):A'.

By using the method of dreessed atom of Dioke states, the master equation of resonance fluorescence in a three-atom system has been. The spectral construction of resonance fluorescence in the system has been found the ratio of weight of intension and relaxation rate of the spectra are calculated. It is found that the resonance fluorescence in a three-atom system consists of seven lines and each line has its own fine construction. We suppose that the reason of the splitting lies in coupling of the dipole momentes of dressed atom.

The chromaticity of an object surface in scene is a constant feature irrelevant to the object shape, which is called color in-varianoe. But that of the corresponding object in image is variable because of the existance of highlight and shading, no color constancy is observed. To construct a physical model of color reflection is a way to understand the image color correctly. This paper describes a method for computing illuminant and object chromaticity coordinate, which is based on the Dichromatic Reflection Model proposed by klinker et al[1]. first deals with plane fitting in 3D color histogram using K-L transform, then separates the interface reflection component from the body reflection component. Also the limitation of practical CCD cameras is discussed and the experimental results are presented. (Fig.1~3: see color inset No.1~9).

mages of objects are influenced by the position and chromatioity of the illuminant. Ideal segmentation result can not be gained by usual segmentation algorielun due to the appearenoe of highlight and shadow. The Dichromatic Reflection Model is used in this paper to separate a color image into two intrinsic images-matte image and highlight image. The matte image is the original image with the highlights removed, reflecting the invariance of the object and being not affected by the environmental factors (such as the position and chromaticity of the illuminant). While the highlight image is an image of just highlighs, reflecting the enviromental factors only, and providing information for shape from glass. (Fig.1 and Fig.2: see color inset No.10~15).
