This paper desoribera the behavior of coupling power for fused biconioal linear format 3×3 single mode optical fiber directional coupler using the theory of composited waveguides. The conditions of the cental port input and the outside port input in this coupler are discusses respectively. The expected results are obtained in the case of former, but different results in the case of latter, which is very useful. The analysis for these cases are in a good agreement with experimental results.

The dynamic laser speckle from a skin surface provides the information about skin blood flow. The scattered light from moving red cells is transmitted twice through the skin surface, so that random-modulated triply. In this paper, a new method is proposed to monitor skin blood flow changes based on the properties of cascade-scattered dynamic speckle. A relation between zero-crossing rate and the blood flow changes is derived. Analysis and experimental results on this method are given.

A new method of obtaining large view rainbow hologram by using holographic, phase conjugation is proposed. A concept of holographic collector screen is presented. Compared with existing methods, a large view rainbow hologram can be constructed by this method. The view of the resulted hologram is not limited by the aperture of lens. The principle of this method explained simply is and the feasibility is demos-trated experimentally.

Reported in this paper are the spatially and spectrally resolved fine structures of the 3ω0/2 harmonic emission for both broad band and narrow band laser shooting, observed at an angle of 90°with respect to the laser optical axis. In order to give an explaination to the experimental results observed, the scattering of 3ω0/2 harmonic under the influence of electron density random fluctuation is proposed.

Heavy metal fluoride glass fiber, such as fluorozirconate glass fiber, has attracted considerable attention as a new generation of optical fiber for telecommunication and as a new fiber laser material. This papar presents the preparation techniques of infrared transmitting fiber with ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF (ZBLAN) glass as the core and with teflon FEP as the cladding. The effect of technological parameters on the scattering loss of fluoroziconate glass fiber is studied. It is shown that the glass-melting temperature, the homogenizing time, and the ater content in the environment during the glass-melting and the fiber-drawing process are very important technological parameters in order to reduce the scattering loss. Moreover, the NH4HF2 content in the batch, the temperature distribution in the fiber-drawing furnace, and fiber drawing technology also have influence on the scattering loss of the fiber. Based on these studies, the FEP-cladding fluorozirconate glass fiber with a minimum loss of 0.24 dB/m a 2.32 μm is obtaiend.

Experimental investigations on ps two-wave coupling in InP:Fe are reported in this paper. Transient two-wave coupling gain versus delay time between pump beam and probe beam has been measured. The properties of carious processes in transient two-wave coupling are analyzed. An ps optical switching with high signal-noise ratio and transmissivity of 17 % under low pump intensity has been realized.

The universal coupling wave equation of two-dimension aoousto-optic effect is deduced. The solution of Normal Raman-Nath A-O diffraction is derived from it. The theory is compared with the experimental result of 2-D A-O devices consisting two 1-D modulator. They are in correspondence.

CO2 laser heterodyne detection is one of the promising methods for civilian and military radar. In this paper, the nonlinear four-frequency heterodyne detection have been analysed theoretically. In experiment, the nonlinear fourfrequency heterodyne detection was realized and the results obtained coincides with expected one. Square amplifier is the key element for the processing of electric signals from heterodyne detector in four-frequency system. The main principle is described and a practical device had been made used in the experiment.

Relative encrgies of every Li-like Si ions energy lcvel (n=2-7) and ab initio Si XII wavelengths below 400A involving transitions between 1s2nl2L, levels up to n=7 are calculated. Corresponding transition probabilitics and line strengths are given. The accuracy of wavelength calculation is bettor than 1% comparing with ex sting data. The calculated wavelengths of Si XII 5d-3p, 5f-3d, 6d-3p and 6f-3d transitions are in good agreement (within 0.1%) with the observed transition wavelengths at which soft X-ray lasers have been experimentally demonstrated. The Si XII 7d-3p and 7f-3d transmitions are of potential interest for X-ray lasers with shorter wavelengths towards the Water Window.

Measurement of Doppler-shifb profile of yttrium atomic beam was performed by using a tunable dye laser and laser induced fluorescence (LIF) technique. Comparing the intensities of two LIF which originate from the ground state and metastable state with different velocity, the lifetime of the metastable statc a2D5/2 of yttrium was measured to be (0.8+0.2)ms.

Cr3+ ions in the BeAI6O10 (BHA) crystal give complicated luminescenoe spectrum with different fluorescence lifetimes from several miliseconds to several ten miorosceco-nds. "Null point phases" of these components measured by using chrono-speotroscopio technique indicate that the spectrum is due to two high-field single Cr3+-centers, Cr (Ⅰ), Cr (Ⅱ), and a low-field single Cr3+-center, Cr (Ⅲ). The crystal structure shows that, in an unit cell the possible chromium sites are 24 Cr (Ⅰ) with six distortion maners and 8 Cr(II), responsible for the main line emission, and 8 Cr(III) with a particular structure responsible for the broad band emission. At 77 K, some lens have been identified as the transitions of Cr(I), Cr(II) and Cr-pairs of the I-I and I-II types.
