Numerical Method Based on Bessel Function for Computation of Bent Losses in Planar Waveguides

    Propagation model for bent planar waveguides is presented for calculating bent loss in planar waveguides. Based on the above mode and the evaluation of Bessel and Hankel functions,the propagation characteristics, including bent losses for planar waveguides are obtained. Numerical results are compared with the experiment before in order to testify the accuracy of the method. They agree well with each other, especially for large bending radii.
