Study on Ultraviolet Aging of Five Mineral Pigments in Chinese Painting
In this study, the samples of five mineral pigments of Chinese painting, namely azurite, malachite, cinnabar, orpiment and realgar on the simulated ancient painting carrier were subjected to ultraviolet light aging.Color differences of the samples before and after aging were analyzed. The samples were observed by video microscope and detected by invia Raman spectrometer. The results showed that the chromatic aberration of realgar rapidly changed after aging for 271 hours, with which the value of chromatic aberration reached more than 25.The realgar sample showed discoloration. This indicated that the realgar had poor stability under ultraviolet irradiation.Raman spectra found that after being irradiated by ultraviolet light, the realgar gradually changed into pararealgar, which caused discoloration.Other mineral pigment samples including azurite, malachite, cinnabar and orpiment had little change during the aging process.Their Raman spectra before and after aging also did not show significant changes.
