    Objectives

The icing process in an ice model tank is numerically simulated to study the characteristics and influencing factors of icing.

    Methods

The volume of fluid (VoF) two-phase flow model in computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT is used to build the numerical model of the tank and set the thermodynamic boundary conditions, in order to observe the dynamic change process of the temperature field and ice surface in the calculation domain, and analyze the influence of the air-conditioning inlet setting scheme on the icing process.

    Results

The research results show that as the number of air-conditioning inlets increases, the ice model tank freezes faster and it is easier to form a uniform layer of ice.

    Conclusions

The numerical simulation results of the icing process reveal the relationship between cold air and icing, which can provide references for controlling icing in ice model tanks.
