In order to optimize the user experience and meet the needs of convenient portability and high imaging quality of virtual reality displays, the reverse optical path design method is used, with software simulation and theory to design a virtual reality (VR) display system with aspheric structure, and image quality evaluation and tolerance analysis are conducted. Each monocular field of view has 4 aspheric lenses with a field of view angle of 90°, a pupil diameter of 6 mm, a pupil distance of 12.55 mm, a modulation transfer function greater than 0.25 at the Nyquist frequency (14 lp/mm), and a maximum distortion of 12.23%. The structure designed is compact, has high image quality, which met the design requirements of VR glasses-mounted display.
