Cationic imidazole-based Gemini surfactants 2-bromo-1-(1-isoamyl-3-nonyl imidazole)-1-nonyl imidazole (10-4-10) and 2-bromo-1-(1-isoamyl-3-hexyl imidazole)-3-hexyl imidazole (6-4-6) are used as the accelerants for the splitting of suede fabric. The effects of accelerant dosage, sodium hydroxide dosage, splitting temperature and time on the splitting results of suede fabric are investigated, and compared with the traditional accelerant dodecyl dimethyl benzyl chlorohydrin (1227). The splitting rate and thickness of the suede fabric are tested, and the morphology of the fabric before and after splitting is characterized by SEM. The results show that splitting promotion effect on suede fabric with10-4-10 is better than 1227.6-4-6 has limited splitting promotion effect on suede fabric. The optimal low-alkali splitting process with 10-4-10 for suede fabric is accelerant 10-4-10 2.5×10-4 mol/L, NaOH 10 g/L, splitting at 100 ℃ for 40 min. Using 10-4-10 as accelerant in splitting treatment of suede fabric can effectively increase the splitting rate of suede fabric and reduce the NaOH dosage. SEM characterization shows that the splitting effect of suede fabric is significant.
