Coating is an effective method to obtain functional glass by surface modification. In this paper, a high-orientation silver nanowire film on glass surface was prepared by pulling technique. The influence of different silver nanowire content and pulling rate on the optical properties of glass, such as transmittance and extinction ratio, were studied by UV visible spectrophotometer and ultra depth of field 3D video microscope. The results show that the extinction ratio of silver nanowire thin film glass reaches 24.2 dB at 530 nm when the fraction of mass of silver nanowires is 2% and the pulling rate is 20 mm/min, and the extinction ratio reaches more than 20 dB in the wavelength range of 500 nm to 1 050 nm. Hence the overall polarization performance of the glass is the best. This approach promises to provide a low-cost fabrication method for the large-scale assembly of functional nanoscale electronic and photonic structures.
