Optical superlattice is a nonlinear optical material based on the quasi phase matching technology. Optical superlattice with different microstructures enabled by ferroelectric domain engineering can efficiently and flexibly realize nonlinear frequency conversions as well as multi-dimensional manipulation of the light field. The host material of optical superlattice has been undergoing the development from bulk to thin film. With the breakthrough of the fabrication techniques of the two material platforms, diverse important applications have been spawned, such as laser frequency conversion technology, nonlinear light field manipulation and multi-functional integrated photonic chips.
