    Laser radar has played an important role in various fields since it came into being. At first, the development course of laser radar technology is reviewed. And then, the basic working principle is expounded, and the applications in the atmospheric sounding are listed. At last, the technology problems of laser radar are pointed out, and the development is prospected.
