By integrating the academic foreland and scientific research achievements into experimental teaching, it enhances and updates the existing teaching contents. This approach is crucial for connecting teaching with research, fostering students’ innovative skills, and nurturing their overall development. Through the integration of science and education, we have designed a research-based comprehensive chemical experiment titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Nano-sized Magnesium Oxide”. In the project design process, we introduced a multi-functional microwave synthesis instrument. By utilizing characterization technologies such as X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy, we explored various reaction conditions including reaction duration and reactant proportion to optimize a suitable reaction scheme for the undergraduate experimental classroom teaching. The project involves multidisciplinary knowledge points that train students to analyze and solve problems by comprehensively using interdisciplinary knowledge, and improves their innovative thinking abilities and overall qualities.
