NiFeBSi alloy coating and NiFeBSi+mass fractiont 10% nano-SiC composite coating were prepared by laser cladding on the 45# steel, respectively. Microstructural characterization of these coatings were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM),micro-hardness and tribological properties were measured using Vickers micro-hardness tester and wear testing machine. The results show that the microstructure of the NiFeBSi alloy coating is featured with FeNi3+α-Fe eutectoid structure distributed between the γ(Fe,Ni) dendrites. When mass fraction 10% nano-SiC was added into the NiFeBSi alloy coating, besides FeNi3+α-Fe eutectoid structure, four kinds of carbides are also formed between γ(Fe,Ni) dendrites due to decomposition of SiC particles. The hardness and wear resistance of the NiFeBSi alloy coating are obviously improved due to enhancement of multi-carbide and refinement of FeNi3+α-Fe eutectoid structure.
