For implementation of the broadband wide beam transducer, a new method was proposed to realize the wide beam coverage of 360° in horizontal radial direction with a coaxially opposed structure based on the existing transducer structure in this paper. Using the finite element method, the transmit voltage response (TVR) and directivity of the existing structure and two type of transducers with coaxially opposed structure are compared and analyzed. The results show that the beam width of 360° and the TVR of greater than 138 dB in horizontal radial direction have been realized by the new structure at 12~19 kHz when the size of the baffle is 100 mm×7 mm and the opposing distance between the transducer and the baffle is 4 mm. Both high TVR in horizontal radial direction and wide operating bandwidth are achieved by the proposed coaxially opposed transducer.
