On the commercial butterfly wings,silver/butterfly wings substrates were prepared by depositing silver thin film with vacuum thermal evaporation method. The microstructure and surface morphology of silver/butterfly wings were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).Rhodamine 6G(R6G) was chosen as the probing molecule, the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activities of silver thin film on different butterfly wings were investigated. The effects of R6G aqueous solution concentrations and silver thin film thicknesses on SERS performances of the substrates were semi-quantitatively analyzed. In addition, twelve locations were randomly selected on the substrates of Kallima Inachus and Gypsy moth. The relative standard deviation values of the peak intensities of 604,1349 and 1509 cm-1 were 5.30%,6.86%,5.58% and 4.36%,3.21%,3.35%,respectively,which indicated the prepared Ag/butterfly wings exhibited good uniformity.
