Light ray propagation and paraxial imaging characteristics of parabolic defocusing GRIN fiber lenses

    In this paper we discuss the light ray propagation and paraxial imaging characteristics of a parabolic defocusing GRIN fiber lens based on the ray equation. The analytical solutions are found for the ray paths propagating in a parabolic defocusing GRIN fiber lens and used to derive the GRIN lens law. The equivalent focal length and the principal planes are determined.
