Gain nonlinearities can effectively improve the modulation band-width of the semiconductor laser
Low-cost, high-efficiency fiber-optic communication requires a simple and compact solution that enables ul-tra-high bandwidth modulation. A direct detection sys-tem constructed by a directly modulated semiconductor laser provides such a solution.
