Saturable absorption of semiconductor-doped glasses irradiated with sub-picosecond pulses

    Employing intense laser beams at 616 nm and 750 fs pulse width, we measured the saturable absorptive property of Schott filters RG645 made of semiconductor doped glass, and observed clearly self-focusing during the beam passed through the sample at high power densities.
