Experiment Investigation of Water Breakdown Characteristic by High Power Laser
An experimental investigation of the shock wave and cavitation bubble after optical breakdown in water with Nd:YAG laser pulses was presented. The experimental investigation of the laser-induced cavitation bubble expansion and collapse was done with high-speed video. The pressure acoustic signal generated by the cavitation bubble was detected with the high-frequency measuring hydrophone. In general, the bubble characteristic generated by the laser is similar to the bubble characteristic generated by the propeller cavitation in a liquid. The laser energy affects the characters of laser-induced acoustic signal, such as signal intensity, signal appearance. The results of experiment investigation may serve for the optimization in the bubble study, applications of laser medicine, laser machining and laser-generated sound.
