Some problems about the calculation of the storage energy U and PN, the net power loss of coherent light in the cavity are discussed in accordance with such lasers in which the distribution of light intensity and population are transversely nonunif orm, and the revised formula of linewidth has been obtained.

The theory of two-photon optical bistability has been extended to include all the AC Stark shift terms. It is shown for the first time that there exist double bistability and two types of tristability.

Theory and experiment have shown dynamical interference of the reflectance of P+-implanted Si for He-Ne laser beam by CW CO2 laser annealing. Analysing the dependence of the reflection on the time, we have discovered that the epitaxial growth rate of Ion-implanted layer of Si is not uniform during the crystallization.

Homogeneous pumping induced time dependence of temperature distribution in Bolid state laser rods during pumping is.calculated. The thermal conductivity can be neglected for the single pulse operation and the temperature dstribution is determined solely by the pumping distribution. The build-up time of the steady state, temperature distrbution and temperature fluctuation are obtained for cw and pulse repetition operation. Data are given for the typical YAG devices.

Both kinetic speotrosoopic measurement of uv absorption of flash-photolyzed F2 and the results of a simple numerical modeling of pulsed HF chemical lasers confirm the existence of an induction period. The computer modeling also shows that, below 100K and at a realizable initiation level (nF=1016-1017cm-3), the chain reaction will carry on only to a tiny conversion of 0.3%, resulting in a considerably lower laser output energy. Consequently, Bashkin’s proposal of operating a pulsed HF laser at 100K appears impracticable.

A novel method is devised to determine the small signal gain, saturation intensity and internal losses of intracavity-waveguide CO2 lasers. Reasons for that transition in 00l-020 band which occurs readily in a glass waveguide laser is analysed, and a simple method to restrain transition in 001-020 band is suggested.

In this paper an improved ArF excimer laser at 193 nm is reported. The single pulse output energy is over 200mj. The effect of UV-preionization on the laser output performances is discussed in detail.

An optically regenerative electrooptically Q-switehed NdrYAG laser with unstable optical resonators has been used in microspectral analysis. The standard deviation of stability of laser output is 0.92%(rms)under the condition of free running and less than 5% in Q-switching; the sampling diameter is about 5 to 450 pm; and the adaptability and reliability of the instrument have been greatly improved.

Scanning electron microscope has been used to observe Ti diffusion parallel to Z direction of the sample surface out of a narrow strip which corresponds to 9 m wide channel waveguide on Y cut LiNbO3 substrate. From these measurements lateral diffusion coefficient was calculated and the swelling of channel at the surface was also observed.

This paper deals mainly with two questions. One is the curative effect of CO2, He-Ne lasers in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, gynaecology and facial features. The other is the protection of the medical workers and the patients. It is considered that when an angioma and other cuticle focuses is treated by CO2 laser, the best protecting way is to use nonberired fabrics.
