The spectrum-transmission-function (STF) of an optical-fiber-ring is obtained from the theory of partially-coherent-light. The influence of the optical-length, the output-couple-coefficient of the optical-fiber-ring cavity upon the STF and the coherence of the loss is also analyzed.

An amplified spontaneous emission and a maximum net gain coefficient of 3.5% cm-1 of the Rb2 orange band (601~608 nm) were observed from the e-beam-excited mixture of Rb/Rb2 vapor with argon buffer gas. The dissociative recombination of Rb+3 was discussed as an efficient form ation process of the upper state by the electron beam pumping.

A roll angle measurement system using a transverse Zeeman laser is presented in this paper. It has a large measurement range and its sensitivity is nonlinearly enhanced. The transverse Zeeman laser provides a plane polarized light, which is changed to be slightly ellipse polarized by a quarter wave plate to enhance the sensitivity nonlinearly. Then, the beam passes a analyzer and the measurement signal is detected by a photo-diode. By measuring the phase difference between the beat signal and the reference signal, the value of the rolla angle of the analyzer is got. By employing the phase detector that has the resolution of 0.01°, a sensitivity of 0.6″ in roll angle of the measurement system can be reached.

Connecting an input port and an output port of a single-mode fiber coupler to form a fiber-loop, and making the time delay of the fiber-loop odd times the half-period of the input optical pulses, optical pulses with a multiplying repetition rate at the other output port of the coupler were obtained. Utilizing three loop-connecting fiber couplers concatenated, optical pulses with an eight-times repetition rate were obtained. Experimental results show that, this scheme has several advantages, such as easy adjusting for pulse amplitude and pulse interval, large output power, low cost and easy fabrication.

2000 high resolution images have been stored in a disk-type photorefractive LiNbO3∶Fe crystal using spatioangular multiplexing with a spherical reference wave. All images stored are successfully reconstructed without visuable cross talk or information loss. In this paper the angular separation between adjacent holograms in a track, as well as the radial separation between adjacent tracks are given, and the achieved performance from this memory is reported. The experimental results agree well with theory. This research demonstrated that 3-D holographic disks are feasible for mass information storage.

bR film is one kind of excellent nonlinear optical materials. In this paper, we realized all-optical Boolean logic based on the relationship among the polarization states of the recording beams, the reading beam and the diffraction beam for the holograms in bR film. Our method is simple and practical.

Based on Hough transform (HT) implemented by a coherent optical system, this paper proposes a real-time parallel optical computing method for HT. The proposed method overcomes a number of problems assciated with coherent optical implementation of HT, such as system complexicity, speed limit and limitations in operation environment.

The view-angle of rainbow holograms which are recorded using a pre-existent slit or a pre-existent slit with mirrors is analyzed in detail. Then a simple method using a pre-existent slit with inclined mirrors is suggested. This method can extend the view-angle of the rainbow hologram further, while keeping a high energy efficiency of the rainbow hologram. The best position of the mirrors and the possible biggest view-angle of the hologram is studied and the relative formulas are given. Requirements and restriction of using the three methods are considered and their biggest view-angles are compared. A concept on efficiency reconstruction slit is proposed, so as to distinguish it from the normal reconstruction slit.

In this paper, a newly developed two-dimensional Laser Doppler anemometry (2D-LDA) is reported, in which two components of the velocity are distinguished and measured by two closed optic-electro-hybrid-feedback loops containing the counting and tracking technique. As the bandwidth of photocurrent is compressed more than one order, the new 2D LDA system is simplified and lower cost besides the stable and reliable operation. Experimental study has been carried out to confirm the working principle of the system.

The relation between the relative intensity fluctuation of the backscattering light and the Teflon thickness that mimics burn skin was experimentally studied. The results show that the relative intensity fluctuation decreases as the Teflon thickness increases. The experimental results reported here might be useful in the skin burn diagnosis.

The ambipolar diffusion coefficient of charged copper species in copper vapor laser is theoretically deduced. On the base of the copper-vapor laser kinetic model the thermal diffusion coefficient for the metastable copper species and the ambipolar diffusion coefficient for electrons are analyzed. The influence of thermal diffusion on metastable copper density and the ambipolar diffusion on electron density is quantitatively analyzed.

Relationship among lasing wavelength, fiber length and dopant concentration has been deduced in Yb3+-doped fiber laser. Based on the relationship, a single spatial mode ring fiber laser operating at 1053 nm pumped by a 981.5 nm, laser diode has been achieved with a linewidth of 5 nm, pumping threshold 1.85 mW and slope efficiency 3%.

The acceleration of electrons by a laser pulse for the case in which the electrons are injected along an arbitrary direction is studied. The general formulae which represent the critical intensity of the laser pulse for the acceleration and the corresponding energy gain of the particles are derived. The critical intensity is sensitive to the initial transverse momentum of the particle. In order to obtain low critical intensity, one should try to make the particle and the pulse propagate along the same direction initially.
