A method to process signal of a CO2 coherent laser radar by FFT and IFFT pair is presented, and the theoretical and simulation researches are proceeded. The running of the worked out signal processing packet indicates that the signal processing can be completed perferctly, and the time-delay parameter can be extracted precisely by the method.

A method of using the photothermal effect in the direct measurement of diffusivity of nanometer materials is reported. Experimental results at different shape pressures and sintering temperatures are given. The results indicate that the diffusivity of nanometer ZrO2 increases with the shape pressure decreasing, while for nanometer A12O3, at higher sintering temperature, the diffusivity decreases with the sintering temperature elevating, and at lower sintering temperature the diffusivity unusually rises.

A new method of simultaneous H2 and O2 CARS measurement in a H2/air diffusion flame using a single dye laser was developed. The integral intensity ratio of S(6) and S(5) of H2 was utilized to determine the temperature. The agreement between temperatures measured by this new method and the conditional N2 CARS was satisfactory. Because the CARS of H2 and O2 measured simultaneously, this method presented a possibility that their concentration and flame temperature will be obtained in one run.

The image spread brought a large error in the profile measurement utilizing a laser probe. The present paper analyzed the parameters which contributed to the diameter of the image spread, and gave the ways for improvements with the result of the computer simulated curves. In conclusion, the resolution couldn't be changed in the curve profile measurement.

A novel fiber- optic sensor for the simultaneous measurement of voltage and temperature is presented. The possibility of the separation of the voltage and temperature from a sensing head is analyzed theoritically as follows: a quartz acts as a sensing element, the 1/4 wave plate is put behind the quartz, and the sensing head can simultaneously output two signals. One singnal, involving the Pockels effect, is for voltage measurement; and the another, associated with the optical rotation effect, is for the temperature measurement. The experimental results show that the voltage accuracy of 0.5% can be obtained when the temperature varies by 90 ℃, and the accuracy of the temperature measurement is ±1 ℃.

In order to overcome the inherent weakness in the mechanical scanning laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) system, the laser beam scanning was realized by means of the deflection of the diffracted laser beam occuring in the acousto-optic interaction to construct an acousto-optic scanning LDA (AOS-LDA). Because there are no any movable or rotational optical elements in the AOS-LDA, the limitations induced by mechanical inertia was then eliminated. The instantaneous regurgitant velocity profiles obtained from the mitral heart valve prothesis (MHVP) test installed in a mock circulatory loop can be used to evaluate the regurgitation characteristic of the MHVP in vitro.

A two-dimensional orthogonal segmented wedge array (SWA) optical system for uniform illumination has been proposed for the first time, which enables us to transform a non-uniform laser spot into the rectangular uniform one with variable dimension. The design principle has been given and experimental results are reported and analysed. The further application to uniform illumination of the comparatively small focal spot has been discussed too.

In this paper, spectroscopic properties and static test of two different kinds of indoaniline cyanine dye films were studied. Results showed that absorption spectra of dyes in solvent are different from those in the spin-coated films. As optical recording materials, the two spin-coated films have acceptale absorption and reflection in the visible and the near infrared range. In static testing, they both showed reflectivity contrast (C) bigger than 40%. Moreover, their reflectivity characteristic was specially detected using the continous He-Ne laser irradiation. The results indicated that their reflectivity increased gradually under laser irradiation and tended to become saturated.

Based on the analysis for the course of the photochemical reaction in MBDCG during exposure, the dredging-blocking model for strengthening the sensitivity of MBDCG is advanced, and the viewpoint that blocking is more potencial than dredging is suggested as well herein. The double-sensitive-centre method is presented and its principle for stenthening sensitivity is discussed as an example for the dredging model. At the end, the practical sensitizing effect by this method is investigated as well.

Using Y-G algorism, substituting the descrete components such as gratings, and lenses by two binary phase-only elements H1 and H2, the new type phase-only wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) is designed. The phase modulation of H1 makes the intensity distribution on the output plane H2 satisfied to the design such that eight Gaussian beams are arrayed according to their wavelengths and their crosstalk is little. H2 transforms the wavefront of the output laser beam to couple well to each receiving channel. By only phase modulation, the demultiplexer, focusing etc. of the WDM are realized.

Laser gas alloying with nitrogen was employed to improve the wear resistance of TiAl intermetallic alloys. The rapidly solidified in-situ wear resistant composite materials reinforced by hard titanium nitride were successfully fabricated in the laser modified surface layer. The microstructure and hardness of the laser modified surface are governed by the laser processing parameters. Results demonstrate preliminarily that laser gas alloying with nitrogen is a potential promising new surface modification technique for improving the wear resistance of TiAl intermetallic alloys.

Dynamic speckle photography of the gear tooth has been achieved by combining a pulsed ruby laser with the external synchronizing trigger signal. Double speckle photograms of the whole mesh period of gear tooth are obtained by accurate time delay. Gear tooth dynamic deformation of the whole mesh period is achieved using the automatic image processing. Testing results show that the trends of gear tooth deforamtion coincide with the calculated ones by the finite element method. The success of the testing provides a new way for the measurement of the rotating gear tooth dynamic deformation.

Based on a one-fluid, two-temperature radiation hydrokinetics model, we study the interaction processes of XeCl laser radiation with a one-dimensional aluminium target. The heating processes of the target are described by nonlinear thermal conductive equations. The forming and evolution processes about the densities and the temperatures of laser-generated plasma are govened by the rate equations. According to this model, we give out the numerical code. Our results present the physical pictures of different stages about the plasma evolution. The impulse coupling coefficient agrees fairly well with the experimental results in literature.

This paper discusses the possibility of selectively eliminating the intra-molecular vibrational redistribution (IVR) in polyatomic molecules by using a strong resonant microwave (MW) field. The results show that when the MW intensity is strong enough, IVR process is significantly eliminated, and the initially prepared local mode vibrational state can be long-lived. This approach may avoid the difficulty caused by the possible multi-photon dissociation, so that it may be used in the practical case.
