A novel Power supply with a superimposed Power supply adjusted by cascadetransistors is developed and specifically used for CW YAG lasers pumped by double Kr lamps Specifically.Benefiting from the characteristic of the operating voltage of the Kr lamas; wecan adjust this power supply by using a superim small Power supply which is atransistor current stabilized source.This Power supply ases the same stability as theconventional one while deserting the clumbersome high Power voltage transformer.

    A novel technique for couplinS multiple diode laser is demonstrated with selffocusing lenses.A coupling efficiency of about 60% was obtained. Some figures indicatethe deviation of SFL will induce the foCal POint size of the coupling beam and Provide thePrecision required for the solid state optical system. Such a scheme may be Wticularlyuseful for more application of diode lasers to come.

    This peper describes a linear FM of a CO2 laser with an acoustooptic modulator.The chirp Signal is detected with an optical autodyne and comprehend with a SAW dispersivedelay line. The compressed pulse width is 80 us and its comptession ratio is 100. Theexperimental system and results are also analysed and discussed.

    This paper reports the reactive sputtering TiO2 films. The experimental resultsindicated that the properties of the TiO2 films such as the deposition rate;transmittance, conductivity and absorption coefficient depend on the flow of the reactive gas and sputteringPOwer. By controlling the flow of the O2 gas; we have produced TiO2 films characteristic of good conductivity and certain absorption.

    A Blumlein microstrip photoconductor switch (P.S.)of high-efficiency isdescribed for the first time in this paper. The output characteristics of the P.S.circuit andthe working properties of the P.S. driven by various laser powers are discussed in theory. Theorical analysis shows that the P.S. has 100% voltage transmission efficiency. Voltagetransmission efficiency of 93% has been obtained in experiment that in agreement with theresult of theory.

    Thirty six guinea pigs underwent resection of the right facial nerve in the Patotidfossa. For twelve of them;the semiconductor laser with 500 mW output POwer was used toanaStomose the facial nerve. We observed the lantency of evoked compound muscle actionPOtentials (CMAP) and morphology of the repaired facial nerve preoperatively in 4, 6 and 8 weeks postoperatively and compared with the other animalSI facial nerves which wereanaStomosed with conventional monofilament and multifilarnent suture. We found the laser-using method of anastomasis was better than that of anastomasis used with conventional multifilament but had neither beneficial nor detrimental effects than that of monofilament. It is concluded that using semiconductor laser to repair facial nerve may be efficient.

    A Ti:sapphire laser pumped by a frequency doubled Q-switched Nd: YAG laseris studied theoretically and experimently. In experiment when pumpinS POwer is 6. 8 W andwith a repetition-rate of 5 kHz; an output Power of 2.185 W is obtained with a stable slopeefficiency 30%.

    By using a semiconductor Cd-doped glass CdSxSe1-x instead of dye DDI and HITCIas a saturable absorber;we have realized the stable operation of an all solid-state passivelymode-locked Ti:sapphire laser. The mode-locked output POwer of 150 mW and pulse widthof 14 ps have been obtained with a 5.5 W Ar+ laser pumping Power.

    In this paper; a closed V-type three-level system is studied. In the system;atomic coherence is induced by a Raman process of coupling the two upper levels; and lasingoccurs at the transition between either of the upper levels and the ]ower level. It is shownthat this system can exhibit lasing without inversion in the bare state, and the gain arisesfrom the atomic coherence in the dressed state.

    The cluster generation characteristics of some doped silica aerogels wereinvestigated under laser ablation in the negative ion channel by the time-of-flight massspectrometry. Several silica cluster sequences have been formed from the carbon and Rh6Gcoated silica aerosol samples; but no clusters formed from the doP3ntS could be detected. Incontrast; for fullerene-doped silica aerogel only information from fullerene dopant wasobtained; no silica clusters were detected. The structures of the doped silica aerogels play key roles in the laser energy transfer and cluster formation processes.

    The vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) fluorescence from an ionic alkali-halide excimerwas observed by electron beam excitation. A gas mixture of helium or neon with a hot vaporof CsF was excited to obtain two diffuse emission bands centered at 185 and 152 nm from Cs2+F-, which is isoelectronic to XeF excimer.

    We present a simple model to treat the transverse electron thermal conductivityand its influnce on the homogeneity of the high power laser beam used in uniformillumination experiments. Furthmore, the diameters such as the beam width, the intensityinhomogeneity and the energy utilization ratio are redefined to give a quantutitive measure ofthe beam quality.

    The up- conversion fluorescence phenomenon of Er0.1La0.9P5O14 noncrystallinepumped by a pulsed dye laser is studied. The peaks of the up-conversion fluorescence are(552.2, 545.7, 542.9) nm, 525.0 nm, 468.8 nm, 452.2 nm, (411.2, 407.0) nm, 384.1 nm and 380.7 nm. The luminescence(552.2, 545.7, 542.9) nm, 525.0 nm, (411.2 nm, 407.0) nm and 384.1 nm can be ascribed to resonant step by step absorption oftwo phtons by a single ion and 468.8, 452.2 and 380.7 nm are generated in three-photonprocesses.

    The second-order nonlinear optical polarizabilities of a series of substitutedcinnamonaldehyde derivatives using the CNDO/S-CI method and Perturbation theory wereCalculated and the structure dependence of their nonlinear optical properties was studied. TheresultS reveal that this kind of compounds have fairly large second-order POlarizabilities.Morever, there is close relation between the best structures and the high values of β. So weconsider that this series of compounds are worthy of being studied further.

    The spectroscopic and luminous properties of Er3+ ions in ZBLAN fluoride glass invisible region were studied as a function of chlorine content. The results show that theanions have much more effect on the luminous properties. The upconversion luminescence invisible region in bluk glass and fibre was measured using a 800 nm Ti:sapphire laser as theexcitation source. A strong upconversion luminous band at 550 nm for 4S3/2-4I15/2 transition was observed in all samples. The effect of various parameters on the upeonversion luminescence was studied.

    The spectral Properties of Yb3+ are investigated in fluorophosphate gi ̄ withdifferent [PO3]- contentS. In fluorophosphate glasses the results indicate that as the [PO;]content increases in glasses; the stimulated emission cross section of Yb3+ increases; and theabsorption and emission Peaks shift to longer wavelengths;showing the Nephelauxeticeffect.Also; with the increase of [PO3]- content in the glass;more OH- exists in theglass;exertS strong influence on the fluorescence lifetime of Yb3+.

    With absorptance spectra of platinum ions; relationship between platinuminclusion density and platinum redox equilibrium in R2O-BaO-P2O5 system phosphate laserglass was investigated. The results show that platinum inclusion density reduces as theequilibrium shifts towards right.With the melting temperature or OZ perilalpressure of melting atmosphere increased, the equilibrium shifts towardsright. When is large enough, platinum inclusions can not be formed.

    A novel infrared laser dye absorbing 1455 nm was synthesized.The properties ofswitching and mode-locking for different lasers were investigated. A Q-switched 1064 urnlaser with a polysulfone film works satisfactorily. The pulse width is 10 ns. The dyesolutions in DMSO, Iodoethane, 1, 2-Dichloroethylene show excellent properties in modelocking 1340 nm lasers. The pulse widths are 90~100 ps.
