The Spectroscopic and Upconversion Luminous Properties of Er3+:doped Fluoride Glass

    The spectroscopic and luminous properties of Er3+ ions in ZBLAN fluoride glass invisible region were studied as a function of chlorine content. The results show that theanions have much more effect on the luminous properties. The upconversion luminescence invisible region in bluk glass and fibre was measured using a 800 nm Ti:sapphire laser as theexcitation source. A strong upconversion luminous band at 550 nm for 4S3/2-4I15/2 transition was observed in all samples. The effect of various parameters on the upeonversion luminescence was studied.
