A new method called laser induced thermally-assisted vibrational fluorescence (LITVF) for combustion temperature measurement was proposed. The collisional relaxation model of the populations in the excited electro-vibrational states were established. By using light at 517.0nm to excite the transition of C2II1/2(v= l)-X2(v= 0), the LITVF spectra of Bad were obtained in the seeded premised liquified petroleum gas/air flame, from which the temperature were calculated. The results indicate that the accuracy of this method is σT=30K when BaCl is used as the seeded molecule.

    The principle and method are given on measuring the temperature rise in slab laser medium using the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the end surface interferometer. The results verifies the model of nonuniform heating model in the laser medium we proposed.

    The effect of CO2-laser conditioned surface on the absorption and damage threshold of optical coating is investigated with films coated on the substrates of silicon, fused silica and glass. The results show that the damage threshold of TiO2/SiO2 HE coatings deposited on fused silica substrates would be improved after such irradiation.

    Pulse compressor using a two-stage Brillouin and Raman stimulated backward sacttering was performed. It was used to convert pump pulses of 6 ns duration at 1064 nm into Stokes pulses of 20 ps at 630 nm.

    The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser of 3W output power for repairing forty-four tibial nerves of rabbit with seel scalpel blades, and then the epinenrial repairs were completed using either standard mierosuture or CO2 laser-welding technique. The regenerative nerve was investigated by nerve conductive velocity and optical and electron microscopes after nine weeks postoperatively.

    Some of experimental results on 308nm XeCl laser ablation of polymers and biological tissue and on cutting of eyeball cornea are presented. Cemparison is also given of the results on the ablation of biological tissues by nanosecond (NS) and picosecond (ps) YAG laser at 1.06 μm and at 0.53 μm.

    This paper investigates the self-tempering of laser-hardened carbon tool steelsr by means of TEM. It has been found that there are a great deal of precipitation of boundaries in the maximun hardened region of T10A treated with laser hardening. The precipitated carbides, ranged from Inm to 10nm,have the Bhagaryatsku's orientation relation with a matrix of martensite. Based on the results, thermodynamic and dynamic conditions of the precipitation have also been analysed, Many observations show that the characteristic difference in micro-structures between T10A steels treated with laser hardening and those with traditional hardening indicates the existence of precipitation of carbides is a result of the self-tempering.

    The fluorescence enhancement effect for latent bloody footprint on the articles sprayed with mereurochrome reagent under laser illumination is investigated. According to the experimental results from absorption spectra and chromatographic analysis, the source of fluore scence enhancement is discussed. Latent bloody footprints bearing on several kinds of articles are developed, effectively with the enhance fluorescence.

    Experimental results are presented on Ti3+ sapphire quasi-CW laser pumped by the internal frequency-doubled quasi-CW Nd: YAG laser in the wavelength range from 686 nm to 824nm. The maximum output power of 293mW has been achieved. The slope efficiency is 20%. The maximum single frequency output power is 240mW at 805 nm with an overall conversion efficiency of 26%.

    A blue dye laser with high output power in single mode is developted. When pump power at UV wavelengtn of Ar+ laser is 4W for all lines, output power of the dye laser is about 150 mW at 423 nm. The Ca atoms are decelerated obviously after shining the Ca atomic beams in counter-direations by the dye laser beam using the magnet field method.

    Improvements in output power level and long term stability of copper vapor laser have been achieved by placing the copper source at the position where the temperature is optimum for maximum output power, wrapping thin thermal insulator around the middle part of the laser tube and screening E-M radiation etc.

    New results of 1341.4 nm CW laser and pulsed laser have been reported in this paper. Using Nd:YAP rod of 8x138mm and 6.1xl00mm, at 195.8W CW radiation and 5.1J pulsed radiation at 1341.4nm have been obtained with efficiencies of 1.43% and 2.02% respectively.

    The mathematical model of switched power supply for pulsed lasers has been established and the general designing method is given- With fast SCR as the switching elements, a pulsed laser power supply, with can obtain an output power of 15 kilowatts at the repetition rate of 200Hz has been fabricated. The details of this circuit are given and analysis is made.

    In this paper, we study the chemical reactions of medium, and obtain the relationship of the sidelight spectrum and the pumping rate of the excimer excited states such as KrF*, ArF*, Kr2F* on time, medium pressure and medium composition. The results show that the optimum value of medium pressure is 0.8atm, the optimum ratio of the partial pressure Ar/Kr/F2 equals to 91.375%/8.4%/0.225%, and the optimum dwell time of electron beam should be more than 50ns.

    In this paper, the analytical solutions are found for intra-cavity second, triple, and fourth harmonics average output of Q-switched lasers based on the rate equations. Through analysis, we find that there exist an optimum resonator configuration and an Q-switched frequency at the given pumping power.

    A circular-viewing rainbow holography to resonstruct projective image of object is elaborated, the conditions for separating holographic images and illuminating waves are formalized, and two kinds of optical arrangements of recording process are described and verified by experiments.     In this paper, we have measured the surface and the bulk damage thresholds' in Czochralski-and Stockbeger-method-grown sapphire crystals under 1.06 μm and 0.53 μm laser irradiation. We also analyses the factor which affects the damage, and discuss the different damage mechanisms.
