A simple holographic system is described which can be used for routine interf erometric tests of concave and convex spherical surfaces and cylindrical surfaces as well as lenses and lens systems. The system can be set up and adjusted quite easily and used to test large-aperture optical elements without high quality reference optics of the same size.

A holographic three-slit interferometer is described in which the phase of one lateral slit is modulated. The measurement range of this apparatus is one time large than the ordinary three-slit interferometer. It can measure continous light path changes in a wide range.

The shearing interferometry of holographic doublng grating byNd Y1-x A13(BO3)4(NYAB) laser to measure flow field of shook tunnel with M=4.46 is reported. The quantitative evaluation of a shearing interferogram for an axisymmetrie density field on a 15 half angle cone is performed and the result is compared with theoretical values.

Expeirmental procedure of two or three matrice multiplication is introduced. The optical system make full use of optical parallelism. Matrix B is represented by a light source arrary, A and C are inputted by two SLM which can be replaced by two masks in this preliminary experiments. The mean error of D=ABC in our experimental system is 1.23%. When B is a unity, the results of twoimatrice multiplication have been obtained with a mean error of 1.2%.

Optical multistability and optical ternary logic gates have been realized usiag composite ZnS interference filter bistable device. The device is an ideal element for optical computing because of its favorable characteristics, such as simple fabrication technique, low critical power and easy room-temperature operation.

A novel filter, circular harmonic synthetic filter, is presented to overcome the sensitivity of conventional matched spatial filter to geometrical dsitortions of the input object. The computer simulation and optical correlation experiments were made for the synthetic filter, and the results showed that the synthetic circular harmonic filter has stronger recognition capability for triple invariant optical patterns.

The imaging characteristics of an exponential-type GRIN fiber is studied by the method of "equivalent parabolic-type". This method is easier to be used to calculate the Gaussian parameters than the exact anlytical method, with results of higher precision and wider applicability than those by the equivalent-cone method.

Various properties of 45# carbon steel surface before and after laser alloying with chromium and molybdenum are analysed and compared. The results show that the surface wear resistance of the alloyed layer increases by two or three times than that of 45# carbon steel, oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of the alloyed layer were also obviously increased.

A gain-guided GaAlAs/GaAs phase-locked laser array is described, which consists of multi-stripes made by Zn diffusion with oxide mask. A typical threshold current of less than 200mA and an output power of more than 240mW were obt ained, and the phase-locking is shown in the far field patterns.

Frequency stabilization of 3.39μm band dual-line He-Ne laser for absolute distance interferometry was achieved suceesfully. This paper presents the background, requirements and the method of frequency stabilization of this laser, analyses the stabilization servo-loop, explains the principle of stabitity experiments and gives relevant experimental results.

In order to further clarify the soft-X-ray laser kinetics of Ne-like ions, the rate coefficients for populating excited levels of Ne-like ions by electron-impact ionization of lnner-subshell electrons of Na-like ions have been calculated by using Coulomb-Born exchange method and the Z-scaled hydrogenio model, in which the screening constant was defined and evaluated with the Multi-Configurational Dirac-Fock'(MCDF) mean radius of the initial orbital of the active electron to consider the combined-effects of relativity and screening in an actual transition calculation.

The BSO crystal fiber having magneto-optical Faraday effect is developed. This effect is analysed theoretically by ray-analysis and Jones-matrix method, and proved experimentally. These facts indicate that this novel fiber can be used in magneto-optical modulation and magnetic field (or electric current) sensing etc.

Electronic emission spectra of chromium in forsterite are studied at room temperature using LIF method. There are two en ission bands called S band and L band respectively. The former corresponds to the emission of Cr3+ ions, while the latter should be attributed to Cr4+ ions.

The laser characteristics at 2.94μm in YAG:Er3+ crystal were investigated. The internal cavity amplification, loss, threshold, directionality and output energy characteristics curve were measured. When the input was 288 J (T=28.5%), 2J/pulse energy was obtained (ηalops=1%,Pth=110J), when the output at transmittance T=0%,the laser threshold was 69J.
