In infrared imaging system, all false and unnecessary signal are called noise. The existence of the noiseinterferes detection for useful signal, and affects system operating range. Starting fromthe statistic characteristics of the signal and noise, the relationship betweenfalse-alarm probability and threshold SNR is deduced, as well as detection probability andSNR. The formula of operating range for spot target is given. As for extended target, theconcept of temperature difference is redefined, and the formula of calculating system operating range based on MRTD is given, considering of the dimension of the target, discrimination level and detection probability. A software is developed which can fast calculate the operating range under different detection probabilities. At last, an example is given.

Gray level basedcorrelation method is a popular and classic algorithm in the image match registration, butthe computation is hard to meet the requirement of the real-time processing. A real-timeimplementation method of correlation algorithm on DSP TMS320C6201 is proposed, throughoptimizing the image data access format and the parallel of instructions, it costs fewertime for matching process but the same precision. Experiment shows that this method iseffective for matching computation on C6201.

To resolve the movingpoint target detection problem under the condition of low SNR, a new point targetdetection algorithm based on generalized edge extracted by order morphology filtering ispresented. Two steps of point target detection are adopted. First, background suppressionand generalized inner-edge of targets extraction are performed by order morphologyfiltering whose percentile is selected to pick out a small quantity of possible movingpoint targets. Then the motion constraint equation of the targets is set up according tothe image flow model. By use of the model, the true target motion trajectory is detectedin multi-frame successive image. The experiment results show that the method caneffectively and reliably detect the moving point target with SNR less than 3.

Because of theinformation and the energy distribution difference between targets and background inwavelet field after multiscale decomposing, the energy feature is chosen as one of thedetection basis in this paper. It doesn't change with the direction of background texture, the varity of rotation and the shift of targets. The results of experiments prove thatthis method has relatively adaptability.

In this paper, designconsiderations and working style of data sampling and processing system for severaldecades nanoseconds laser reflective wave narrow pulse signal are provided. The system isdeveloped for building laser reflective characteristics mathematics model of target andbackground. In the design, the narrow pulse is expanded into 100μs square wave in its peak, in order to measure altitude ofthe pulse and sample continously for a long time. The sample is controlled by base signalor itself. The base signal or reflective wave signal is expanded into 5~50μs square wave and the sample is triggered by its riseedge. So the sample can be synchronized with transmitting. The effectiveness of samplingand storing is improved. Wherever target and background is in effective distance, pulsepeak can be sampled. Sampling precision is assured. Technical characteristics of thesystem are up to use request, and confirmed by field test.

In this paper, theprinciple of a novel acoustooptic cavity dumping is presented, as well as the design ofBragg acoustooptic cavity dumping with 5mm optical aperture using quartz medium, whichoperates at 1.06μmoptical wavelength, 80MHz ultrasonic frequency, lithium niobate transducer with Y36°axial angle, internal modulation frequency of 1~30kHz. The acoustooptic cavity dumping for laserintracavity is fabricated、 tested and evaluated. The HF driving power is more than 20W,diffraction efficiency is more than 50% for acoustooptic cavity dumping. The experimentalresults indicate that cavity dumping is accomplished in Nd<sup<3+</sup<YAG laser systems.

Diode-pumped solid statelaser radar is a pivot technology in imaging laser radar. It has advantages of small bulkand lower cost, and uses the laser with high repetition rate, high peak value power andAPD with high sensitivity. In the light of scanning method, the imaging technology can bedivided into scan and non-scan imaging. Most systems adopt direct detection method. Thelaser radar has most potential applications in the civil and military area.State-of-the-art of the diode-pumped solid state laser radar technology and itsapplications are introduced briefly in the paper. The applications include preciseguidance, wind velocity measurement and helicopters collision-avoidance. Some of the keytechniques are outlined on the basis of several typical laser radars.

In this paper, thetheoretical study and measured technique for the banknote of the reflection light and thetransmission light are introduced. After the contrast experiment, the characteristicdifferences of the true and false banknotes are discovered. The check circuit and checksystem of the transmission and reflection light were developed with making use of thecharacteristic difference in the pertinence. The banknote was checked and recognised withthe check system. The technology was directly used to doing of finance instrument. Therecognizing technology and falsing technology of the banknote will be advanced in thefinance instrument. The technique is very applicable.

It is very important forformation of PtSi thin film to make the phases of thin film change into Pt<sub<2</sub<Siand PtSi. The formation process of phases is observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-rayphoto spectrum (XPS), and the effects on the formation mechanism of phases of sputteringPtSi thin film are discussed, which annealed in different conditions, i.e. long timenon-isothermal annealing, vacuum annealing and vacuum annealing under protecting gas(H<sub<2</sub<and N<sub<2</sub<). The research results show that annealed in protecting gas of H2 canimprove quality of PtSi thin film evidently, and vacuum annealing may decrease the effectof oxygen on formation phases of PtSi thin film.

To explore theforeground of the applications of the Infrared Thermography on the metal cutting, theInfrared Thermography device is used to monitor and survey the manufacturing procedures, such as metal cutting, heat treat and welding, also the conditions of heat treat ovens, and the IR thermography images have been gained for the temperature distribution incutting area for lathing, planing, milling and welding processing, validated thedescription in the corresponding theories and references. The Infrared Thermography issuggested for the research projects on the metal cutting and determining the processingparameters for next period. In practice, a field survey has been made on the inner/outsidewall and electric parts of a large heat treat oven for its delivery trial running. As aresult, some areas with partly overheats have been found, which due to the insulatematerials are not filled evenly and electric cables/fuses/switches are conducted badly, the result of this field survey finally has been as an evidence for the repair plan of the oven.

Extracting geometricprimitives is very important in model-based computer vision. This program can be treatedas an optimum program, that is to find the optimum value of a cost function. The randomsampling of minimal subsets with statistics can substantially reduce the cost of compute. The Parameter Vector List (PVL) and a new type robust cost function are presented in orderto reduce the cost of compute, increase the precision of the algorithm. The extractionalgorithm can be used with multiple geometric primitives.

A new method of imagesegmentation is developed. The method is evolved by region growing and artificialintelligence combination. The performance of the method is better than region growing, asits calculation speed is faster and program more simple, moreover it can give moreinformation, such as size, gray level, edge and number of object. An experiment is made onlaser image, cell image and warship image at last. Experimental results have shown thatour method is effective to the different object images.

The purpose of imagefusion is to merge complementary information from multisensor data for visual perception, such as surveillance and reconnaissance. The wavelet transform and Mallat fast algorithmare introduced, an image fusion scheme based on the wavelet transform is proposed and thefused image with visible and infrared image is analyzed in this paper. The result showsthat the fused image of the wavelet transform includes all relevant information aboutsensors, the scheme performs better than the Gaussian-Laplacian pyramid-based algorithm. The principle can be used for two images or more, whether the images are in the samespectral band or not.

In this paper, translation, rotation and scale properties of 2-D affine transformation are discussed.Visual and IR image registration require a feature-based apporach. Establishing affinetransformation and extracting edge points as feature, this method calculates thecross-correlation between edges and searches out the relation of corresponding edgepoints. The maximum correlation principle is involved to adaptively determine the optimalregistration parameters k、θ、Δx and Δy. Experimental results using real visual/IR sensor image arepresented. It is shown that this model is effective in image registration.
