The concept of squeezing has been generatized to any quantum states of the rediation field using wigner characteristic function method. As and example, we have discussed the squeezing of the light field in a new quantum state, squeezed chaotio state. Physically the squeezing can be explained to be created by proton-mixing between the light and its phase conjugate field.

In this paper, the photon statistical properties and time-evolution of the single mode field in squeezed chaotic states are discusssed. It is found that its normalized eecondorder correlation function g(2)(0)≥2; furthermore g(2)(0)→3 when the squeezing parameter becomes very large. Thus its bunching effect is greater than in the chaotic states, and may be called super-bunching effect.

Spontaneous emission and resonance fluorescence of an adatom adsorbed near a smail metallic particle are studied by means of the surface-dressed optical Bloch equations and the modified image theory. Spontaneous decay time and Lamb shift; resonance fluorescence spectrum, squeezing effects, and absorption lineqidth are discussed. The influences of size effects, distance between the adatom and particle, and fluctuation in the laser intensity on the optical property are analyzed.

The fifth harmonic generation by mixing Nd:YAG laser fundamental and its fouth harmonic radiation using BBO crystal at room temperature is reported. The energy conversion efficiencies of fourth hamonic to fifth harmonic as high as 48% have been achieved. A numerical method was used to analyse the process of mixing 1064 nm and 266 nm and its result is in agreement with the experimental result.

The nonresonant multiphoton ionization process of lead atoms are investigated at the laser wavelengths of 1064 nm, 532 nm, 355 nm. The dependence of the 7-photon ionization probability of lead atoms on the statistical properties of laser pulse has been analysed by varying the spectral bandwidth of the laser pulse.

By using Raman-Maxwell-Bloch equations, we have calculated the gain factor and energy conversion efficiency of quasi-stationary stimulated electronic Raman scattering with focused broadband pump laser. The effects of laser pump depletion and saturation of Eaman medium as well as the absorption of the medium to the pump beam are considered in the calculation. The results are agreement with the experimental results of XeCl excimer laser radiation in Ba vapour.

The formula describing propagation of second order correlation function of Gaussian-Sohell model beam via optical system has been derived based on Hugens-Fresnel diffraction integral. By introducing a parameter q similar to that of Gaussian beam, it is proved that the ABCD transformation law is satified with the q of Gaussian-Schell model beam.

We report in this paper the theoretical and experimental study on the relation of the absorption in wire grid polarizer with laser polarization orientation and wavelength. Measurements of absorption and laser induced damage thresholds are in good agreement with theoretical model.

This paper reports the Moire technique by means of digital electronic XOR logic for obtaining 3-D object contour fringes in real time. The main advantage of this method is removal of the unwanted patterns. In this method the rotation of equlorder surfaces is obtained by changing period of projection grating. Also the slope contour fringes are obtained by moving the object in lateral. The projection system by means of self-imaging Talbot effect is used. The experimental results are presented.

A new technique for measurement of femtosecond pulsewidth is proposed with equality-width in this paper. The positions on the up-envelope of interference correlation curve are given at which the envelops width equals FWHM of the second order intensity correlation curve. They are 3.984, 4.875 and 4.928 corresponding to pulse shape of sech2t/T, exp(-2t2/T2) and exp (-2t/T), respectively. The critical delay velocities for two kinds of correlation measurement are defined. Theoretical analysis is in good agreement with experiment. The results show that the measurement method oan enhance the resolution of correlation measurement of ultrashort pulse to a few or eyen tens times.

In this paper the electronic structures of the complex ion (MnBr6) 4- are calculated with the spin-polarized MS-Xα method under the actual crystal field of symmetry D3d of the crystal CsMnBr3. The one-electron eigenvalues and elgenfunotions and the spin polarization splittings are given. Energies of some optical transitions and the charge transfer transition are calculated based on the transition state theory. The spinorbit coupling constants are calculated with the Oase-Karplus charge parti Won method, and fine structures of the absorption spectra are disoossed.

A novel feature in single-mode laser is revealed. The nonolassioal field with sub-poissonian photon statistics can be induced by single-mode laser at certain pump conditions. A possible way for generating sub-poissonian field is thereby proposed.

Scattering from correlated points of a randomly rough surface is studied. The variables of the roughness: heights and slopes of neighboring points on a randomly rough surface are correlated. The contribution from this correlation is appreciable, and should be taken into account for computation of the scattered intensity from a rough surface. A general approach and analytic formula are provided.

Using the 612 nm He-Ne laser tube made in the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) and the wide-band mirriors with the reflectivity of 99.95 %, simultaneous emission of 6 visible laser wavelengths (611.8, 629.3,632.8, 635.1, 640.1 and 650 nm) has been observed. Various physical parameters of these lines have been measured and the laser frequency has been stabilized with simple devices. The frequency stability is better than 10-10 for all 6 lines. This can be improved up to 10-12 using modelocking technique. The 650 nm line is proved being a CW He-Ne Raman emission.

The wave equation has been resolved analytically for an inhomogeneous film with exponential index profile in one direction. The electric field varies as Bessel functions. The distribution of standing-wave electric field is obtained when such inhomogeneous layers are overlaped on a λ/4 reflective stack. The results show that the inhomogeneous film can be used as an approach to reduce optical losses in a film system.
