A dye laser system used as a pulsed light source for picosecond photography of laser-produced plasma is described. The dye laser pulse has been synchronized with the iodine laser pulse by a combination of active-passive mode-locking. The arrival time of the dye laser pulse relative to the iodine laser pulse can be preselected with a jitter of 200 ps. Successful synchronization between the two pulse was obtained in 76% of all the shots taken.

This paper discusses the approaches of raising output energy stability of a solid-state laser from the view point of the relationship between input and output energy of a solid-state laser, and two laser welders have been developed (XDJ-L universal laser welder and laser welder for watchcase) on the basis of the conclusion. Through measurements and the practical usage for a long time, it is proved that our laser processing equipments are stable and reliable.

Output radiatiou spectra and time spectra have been studied for a TEA CO2 laser without selective elements. Experiments show that the output radiation usually appears as a single line, sometimes as two lines., and the probability of P10(20) line is a maximum.

The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters Ω2, Ω4, Ω6 of POCl3-ZrCl4-Nd(CF3COO)3 and POCl3-SnCl4-Nd3+ laser liquids are 1.71, 4.09, 6.37 and 1.90, 5.14, 6.86(10-20cm2) respectively, which were determind by spectroscopic method. With these values the probabilities of radiative transition, branching ratio, radia tive lifetime, radiative quantum efficiency of 4F3/2- 4Ijtransition and induced-emission cross section p of 4F3/2 4I11/2 transition(5.15 x 10-20 and 5.69 × 10-20cm2) were calculated. The calculated values are in good agreement with the experimental ones.

This paper describes the results on a high repetition rate copper vapor laser using copper halide as active medium. An experimental investigation was made of the dependence of average output power on temperature, repetition rate and power supply. Optimum operation temperature and repetition rate were determined. The sealed-off laser tube operated for 65 hours at an average output power of 0.5 W. A maximum output of 2 W was obtained from a tube of 325 mm active length and 12 mm inner diameter.

A thermionic cathode electron gun of a pulse width of over 100 S and wide-beam section has been developed. Properties and structure considerations of this electron gun are given. Phenomena of vacuum electrical breakdown in electron gun has been experimentally studied, and main facfors resulting in vacuum electrical breakdown in electron gun found. Dependence of beam current transmitted through electron beam window on heating current of the cathode was measured. This electron gun can be widely used in the research of CO lasers, CO2 lasers and excimer lasers.

A new method of mass spectrum quantitative analysis is presented. To compare with the conventional quantitative analysis, it is simpler and easier and its analytical accuracy is higher. This method has found its first application in gas laser technology and better results have been obtained.

This paper deals with the structure and parameters of a therapeutic equipment using fibre-optic endoscope with argon laser photocoagulation. The power of the argon laser at the output end of the fibre is 4.8-6.2W and the efficiency of conducting light is equal or more than 90%. This type of equipment has been used clinically since March, 1981.

From Dec. 1979 to June, 1981, we used low power a He-Ne laser to irradiate directly the aecupoints in the treatment of 50 allergic nasitis patients. Generally, the disease may be cured in 1-3 courses. Through follow-up of the 50 cases after 1/2-1 year, 38 were healed completely, 4 improved markedly, 4 improved, 4 unchanged. The total effective rate was 92%.
