A new calculation method of Abel transformation is described for transforming observed radiances into the radial distribution of emission coefficients of plasmas. The characteristic of this method lies in transforming improper integral into the usual one. Thus various kinds of usual approximate integrals can be used, and the observed data may be calculated directly and conveniently to obtain necessary numerical accuracy. The method may be applied to cylindrically or spherically symmetric and optically thin plasma often encountered in plasma physics and astrophysics.

In this paper, a method is given for calculating field distribution of an axially symmetrical laser resonator. Field distribution of resonator with small Fresnel number and the intensity distribution of output beam have been calculated using this method. The calculated results coincide with the experimental ones.

A helium-cadmium white light laser device of flute-type hollow cathode is described. The discharge length is 980mm, and white light output is 54.2mW with an externally-heated cadmium vapor source. The tube configuration design and the output properties are also presented.

A method of frequency stabilization——bias frequency locking, for output of unmodulated laser is introduced. A detailed description of operation principles, main components of the system and design considerations for bias frequancy locked laser is given. Finally, a practical circuit for frequency stabilization of iodine stabilized He-Ne laser is described.

In this paper we describe the observation on Raman scattering power, pulse width and frequency-mixing with a Q-switehed pulsed ruby laser. In the experiment, the output of stimulated Banian light passes through a KDP crystal and sum and difference frequencies are produced.

Using simplified rate equations for dye lasers, calculations were made for the dependence of pumping rate threshold,, output power and quantum efficiency on the output coupling. Useful results were obtained, and they are helpful in designing flash lamp-pumped dye lasers and CW dye lasers.

Two types of periodic scan rotating mirrors used in high energy laser systems are introduced. Both rotating mirrors are driven by air turbines, one of them is supported by hydrostatic gas bearing, the other by three holding wheel centerlessly. In this paper their design, fabrication and experimental results are described.

A stable feedback circuit is added on the basis of polarized ring laser interferometer. Direct measurement of optical path difference with compensation method leads to the improvement of stability of the angular rate sensor output and decrease in interference error and ensures the accuracy.

Recording of Chinese characters with two-dimensional laser scanning was studied experimentally. An acousto-optie scanner was used for scanning characters in vertical direction and a vibrating mirror in horizontal direction. The experimental results show that the recording has some merits of high quality, fast speed and simple structure.

For a folded laser of over three stages, only low-voltage terminal of one sot transformer may earthing, other power sources must be floated. This may lead to dangerous potential ascent. In this paper reasons for potential ascent are analysed, potential values at floating points are practically measured and an advanced method for improving insulation of high-voltage transformers are given.
