This paper for the first time proposed a method by using the weighted sum of each sensor’s feedback signal to control the input polarization state of the multiplexing system. The theoretical analysis shows that the control result of this method approximates to the ideal value of the array’s lowest visibility. Each sensor’s visibility can further reach 1 by signal processing, which eliminates the polarization induced fading in each sensor of the array.

When a double frequency laser interferometer is used for length measurement, the meteorological conditions of the testing environment must be revised in order to get the accurate testing results. This paper analyses the effects on testing results caused by adopting the meteorological parameters measurment instruments with different accuracies and presents methods and ways for rationally choosing the meteorological measurment instruments with relevant accuracy.

The optical wedges are designed for the measurement of the vacuum ultraviolet laser beam with a large divergence angle and not so good beam quality. Two wedges have been made and constructed, then applied for splitting and measuring a KrF laser beam. Treatment for experimental data obtained has two ways which constitute a complete description of the KrF laser beam: after drawing a one dimensional energy distribution graph of the laser beam we measured the far field divergence angle;then we calculated the uniformity of energy distribution of the KrF laser beam cross section, for this goal, an analysing program has been developed on the bases of the image analyser Magiscan (2).

This paper discuss the reflection performances of soft X ray multilayers for the shorter wavelengths with discontinuous metal layers. The theoretical models give out the relationships between the reflectivity and the fractional coverage of a discontinuous metal layer over the substrate. The results show that a model presented previously should be revised and a new analysis model is established.

Methodology for determining extrapolated life expectancy values for phthalocyanine (Pc) thin films was investigated. The reflectivity was measured as a function of exposure time for media exposed to 55 ℃,85% RH, 65 ℃,85% RH, and 75 ℃, 85% RH. The excellent stability of Pc thin films in studies of accelerated aging was reported.

A method of recording rainbow hologram using hiding effect between the recorded object’s images is proposed. A series of complementary sheltering screens are placed in the optical path of the master hologram. The varied objects are recorded respectively by means of different screens. When the obtained rainbow hologram is reconstucted, the varied images will be displayed or hidden one another along with the rainbow hologram displaced horizontally. The setting parameters of the complementary sheltering screen and the experimental example are given in this paper. The experimental result is very satisfactory.

A novel optical cross connect network, which uses fiber gratings as add/drop filters and switches through tuning fiber gratings, is proposed and its properties are analyzed. Characteristics such as channel bandwidth, channel spacing, tuning range required, and crosstalk behaviors of a single network and concatenated networks are analyzed.

In this paper, a binary joint transform correlator subtracting a power spectrum baesd on a phase shift technique (DBJTC) is presented. A special half wave plate is fabricated. The zero order spectra (i.e., the autocorrelation power spectra) are removed form the joint transform power spectrum using the phase shift technique, so that higher diffraction output and more limited size and relative position of the images in the input plan are obtained. Simulation and optical experimental results show that DBJTC has the advantages of higher efficiency, and better peak-to-sibelabe and signal-to-noise ratios compared with the classical JTC and binarized JTC.

Crosstalk due to the F-P demultiplexer in HD-WDM systems is investigated. The models about crosstalk due to LD Linewidth and F-P Filter bandwidth and the BER of the receiver are presented and verified by experiments. Based on the models, optimized bandwidth of the F-P demultiplexer is discussed.

We present a method to obtain a beacon light point on an uncooperative target by means of the threshold effect of stimulated Brillouin-scattering. The influence of the threshold effect on the lightintensity distribution on the targetis theoretically demonstrated. The experimentis made in the cases of two speckles on the target and a large area light spot on the target. The experimental result agrees with theory.

After laser cladding, the microstructure and surface hardness of a YG8 pulse discharge coating for W 9Mo 3Cr 4V high speed steel were studied by means of XRD and TEM, etc. The results showed that the surface hardness of the coating could come up to HV 0.1 1600 ̄1800 after it was laser cladded. It is thought that formation of higher hard phases, such as W2C, and nanometer crystal microstructure is mainly responsible for so high coating hardness.

A new algorithm for determining the bimodel particle size distribution is presented in this paper. A number of computer numerical simulations and experimental results demonstrate that the new algorithm is suitable for the determination of the single model and bimodel particle size distributions.

A new more practical CARS thermormetry is set up using an optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The dye laser as a broadband Stokes soucre is replaced by the tunable OPO. Theoretical analysis and experiment demonstate that the new setup is useful in the case of measuring temperature below 2200 K, and it prossesses advantages compared to the conventional dye laser, such as tunable frequency, the stable output and spectral properties, the construction of a compact CARS system and so on.

The threshold characteristics of strain compensated multi quantum well lasers are analyzed theoretically. Taking the InGaAs(P) system as an example, the strain compensated and common strain multi quantum well lasers have been studied. The results show that we can obtain larger optical gain and lower threshold current by the use of a strain compensated structure. The variation of valence band structure plays an important role in improving the characteristics of the strain compensated structure.

The time resolved fluorescence spectra and steady state spectra of four kinds of APCs have been studied. The data have been analyzed in terms of a sum of exponensials by Monte Carlo method. The results show that two bands appear in API and APB fluorescence spectra at 662 nm and 680 nm with different lifetimes (662 nm APC I: 35.8 ps, 1.67 ns; APB: 36.6 ps, 1.45 ns; 680 nm APC Ⅰ: 34.2 ps, 1.64 ns, and APB: 25.8 ps, 1.62 ns); while for APC Ⅱ and APC Ⅲ, only one peak exists at 660 nm with different lifetimes (APCⅡ:20.4 ps, 1.64 ns; APCⅢ :23.8 ps,1.76 ns). The results indicate that there are two paths of energy transfer in core of PBS and imply the ultrafast energy transfer processes of the APCI and APCB trimers.

The efficiency of the non resonant two photon (NRTP) isomerizations of stilbenes and 1,4 diphenyl 1,3 butadienes was found to depend strongly on the wavelength of the laser pulses. The results not only confirm the 2 1Ag nature of the excited states responsible for the cis trans isomerizations but also demonstrate that the action spectra of the NRTP reactions correspond to the two photon allowed absorption bands.

In this paper, the experimental setup and the odd boundary condition on thermal dark spatial optical solitons were designed, and the experiment with samples of different heights and different densities were realized in C 60 toluene. Finally, numerical results of thermal dark base solitons were simulated, in good agreement with those obtained experimentally.

The method to calculate the spatial coherhence of synchrotron radiation soft X ray has been put forward. The spatial coherence has been calculated numericaly according to the data from a NSRL soft X ray zone plate pinhole monochrometor at three working wavelengths. In addition, a formula to calculate the diameter of the coherent area has been concluded. This should be helpful to the soft X ray experiments and the refinement of the monochrometor at NSRL.

GaN thin films were grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition on Al 2O 3(0001) substrates, the epitaxial relationships between GaN and Al 2O 3(0001) were examined by a X ray(synchrotron radiation source) diffraction method. Results revealed that GaN grown on the well nitridated substrates exhibited the popular crystallographic orientation with direction perpendicular to the Al 2O 3(0001), while those grown on the bare or insufficiently nitridated substrates proved to have three other orientations which rotated by certain angles around its in respect to the popular one. The orientation tiltings were suggested to be one of the inportant mechanisms by which GaN films could match better with Al2O3(0001) substrates and relax the interfacial strain effectively.
