Ideal Binary Optical Microlenses (BOML) are designed using a phase balance design method, the accumulating integral method is used to analyze the BOML′s diffractive result. Properly coated, the lenses of the new design have a theoretical coupling efficiency of 100%. 99.60% excited fundamental mode in the multi mode receiving fiber and a 99 95% coupling efficiency in the single mode receiving fiber would be expected.

    ORMOSIL doped with Thionine dye was prepared by sol gel method and its optical nonlinearity was measured using a single beam (Z-scan). The nonlinear refractive index n2 is about 4×10 -7 esu. An analysis shows that the nonlinear refraction of Thionine dye doped ORMOSIL is attributed to the delocalized π electron effects of organic dye.

    In this paper, using the generalized Huygens Fresnel diffraction integral and statistical optics method, the focusing properties of laser beams with amplitude modulations and phase fluctuations have been studied in detail. The beam quality factor (M 2 factor) of laser beams with phase fluctuations has been analyzed.

    In this paper, we report the study of the effect of SBS on various properties of the distributing erbium doped fiber amplifier (d-EDFA) using a convective equation. The result shows that because of SBS, the necessary pump powers increase, the noise figure becomes big, the signal noise ratio decreases, and the optimal pump period becomes short.

    This paper reports the establishment of a microvessels′ thrombotic model of Wistar rats and studies of the different doses of aspirin in the action on thrombosis using an argon laser. We found that the anti thrombotic action of aspirin was closely related to the doses which were used. However, the prothrombotic action of aspirin was observed in the ultra low dose.

    Effect of He Ne laser irradiation of the cervicales anteriores region and of acupoint irradiation on rabbits is studied. The nodi lymphatici cervicales anteriores were observed by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The serum IgG was measured with a simple immunodiffusion method. The results showed that the ultrastructures of many kinds of cells in the lymph nodes both region irradiated and acupoint irradiated were changed. The function of the cells appeared activized. The serum IgG of the acupoint irradiation groups was much more than the control group. It was suggested that He Ne laser enhancing of cellular and humoral immunities of the organism was on the basis of changes of the cell ultrastructures. In conclusion, the immunity of the entire organism was enhanced by the laser acupoint irradiation, but the region irradiation only improved the immuniactivities of the irradiated region.

    A novel color encoder which has dual function of a beamsplitter and a beamshaper is proposed. This encoder could acquire higher diffraction efficiency and very good uniformity of light field with high diffraction efficiency. An algorithm combining tracing algorithm, G S algorithm and Y G algorithm is used to design this encoder. The result by computer simulation shows: the diffraction efficiency is up to 93.3%, and the non uniformity is less than 0.01%. And a new approach to encode and make a phase element by using color-printer techniques is also proposed.

    This paper reports the study of the effect of free drying dehydration on diffraction efficiencies of dichromated gelatin holograms of different gelatins. It was found that the drying can greatly increase diffraction efficiencies of dichromated gelatin holograms, ranking from 30~45% to 55~80% for dichromated gelatin holograms of inert gelatins and from 75~90% to 90~100% for dichromated gelatin holograms of active and PA modified gelatins after drying. But at the same level of exposure, the diffraction efficiencies of dichromated gelatin holograms of inert gelatins generally increased more than those of active gelatins; However, for the same gelatin, the low diffraction efficiencies dichromated gelatin holograms of underexposure and overexposure increased more than the high diffraction efficiencies dichromated gelatin holograms of moderate expoosure. The reason why the diffraction efficiencies are changed by drying was discussed.

    Contributions of red, green and blue components of color liquid crystal television to the transmittance of a He Ne laser beam should be clarified. Experiments show that there is an approximate linearity in quite a large range for the red and green components. The green component is even more active than the red, but the blue is inferior. It is possible to reduce the loss of spatial resolution by virtue of the spectrum coincidance of the filters and the non linearity of liquid crystal. It is also observed that the three color components have a strong dependence on each other. Only considering both lightness and interaction of the three components can bring about the best effect of color-liquid-crystal-television in a coherent beam.

    The nonlinear optical properties of ruthenium complexes with good chargetransfer properties were studied by degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) at 450 nm. The third order nonlinear optical susceptibilities and the third order hyperpolarizabilities of molecules, and the influence on the nonlinear optical coefficent of the compounds were discussed.

    In this paper, a new optical architecture for FPS interconnection is proposed, in which ordinary imaging lenses and optical wedges are used as optical interconnection devices. The FPS interconnection network is simple and useful; both fabricating and adjusting are easy, and the cost is reasonable. Especially, the FPS network possesses high light efficiency and high interconnection channel density, therefore it has the value of the practical application.

    A nozzle which consists of two co axis pipes was designed to weld stainless steel with a 2.5 kW CO 2 laser. The influences of the supplying way and flow of argon and helium, and of the angle of nozzle on the control of laser induced plasma were studied. When the angle of the nozzle to the workpiece is greater than 45° with helium flowing through the outer pipe and argon through the inner one, the laser induced plasma is completely suppressed in the keyhole, and then a weld is obtained of great weld depth and great ratio of depth to width. The required flow of helium to control the plasma decreases with the increase of welding speed.

    Visual inspection and control methods of effectivenss of laser shock processing (LSP) were put farword. By means of regulation of laser shocking parameters and process details, surface qualities of LSP areas were controlled, and the effectiveness of LPS was evaluated based on the examination of the surface qualities. The difficult technical problems of LSP engineering applications were solved, thus, the fatigue life of all LSP specimens will be increased greatly.

    Via solving density matrix equations of the three level system, the medium gain Gs and output power density Is along the sample tube in a miniature optically pumped NH 3 molecular far infrared laser (mini NH 3 OPFIRL) were calculated by means of the iteration method. The calculation results showed that the laser tube had an active region and a saturation region. For the mini NH 3 OPFIRL with a definite tube length, in a certain range the rise of operating gas pressure mainly resulted in an increase of peak value of Gn and shortening of the active region. Considering the scattering loss and the self-absorption effect, the increase of peak value Gn was not important to the laser output intensity. But, the rise of pumping laser intensity Ip0 was advantageous to the homogeneous activation along the light axis of the medium, which enhanced the total output power. Meanwhile, the signal frequency detuning obviously affected the amplifying processes in the mini-NH3-OPFIRL.

    A four mirror folded cavity used for intracavity frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser was numerically analyzed in detail. It is shown that the large volume fundamental mode with a suitable stable region width can be achieved if proper cavity parameters are chosen, and the beam inside the cavity will make the frequency conversion efficient. Experimental results verify the predictions. The maximum output power is over 32 W, and the output beam quality, compared with that of the two mirror resonator, has been improved greatly.

    The perovskite like SrBi 2Ta 2O 9 thin films have been successfully prepared on Si/SiO 2/Ti/Pt substrate by pulsed eximer laser deposition. The crystallization and ferroelectric property were clearly dependent on the substrate temperature. The SrBi 2Ta 2O 9 thin film with fine grain size and well saturated square hysteresis loop was obtained at 450℃ substrate temperature. Good ferroelectric properties were obtained from the SBT film; Pr and Ec were 8.4 μC/cm 2 and 57 kV/cm, respectively.

    A gas mixture of xenon or krypton with a hot vapor of rubidium was excited to obtain a diffuse emission band centered at 164 nm from (XeRb)+ and 133 nm from (KrRb)+ molecular ions. The observed emission bands are assigned to the transitions of (XeRb) + and (KrRb) +, respectively.

    In this paper, the composition, properties, and preparation techniques of multiwavelength laser protection plastics are studied. The test of laser protection indicates this kind of plastics have excellent visibility and can well protect radiation injery from lasers in UV, visible and infrared ranges.
