A method of magnifying the deflective angle of a light beam is proposed, in which the measurement sensitivity of speckle photography can be raised. By speckle Photography, a 3-D asymmetrric temperature field for the phase object is measured. And the temperature distribution for a giving layer (z=const) is obtained by convolution backprojection algorithm. The experiment shows that this method is suitable for the measurement of the phase object with the small sectional size and the small temperature gradient.

Under identical exposure and Processing conditions, the exposure characteristics of the soft X-ray film SIOFM-5FW have been compared qualitatively with Kodak 101- 05and Ilford-Q plates in the soft x-ray and XUV ranges below 100. 0 nM, using D-19 and Phenisol developers. The experimental results have shown that for the radiation above 10. 0nm, the response of SIOFM-5FW lies between Kodak101-05 and Ilford-Q plate, but closely to the former and for the radiation below 10. 0 nm SIOFM-5FW is more sensitive than Kodak 101-05 plate, with a higher saturation density and dynamic range, and has an obvious K absorption eadge structure of carbon. The effects of the two developers on the exposure characteristics are discussed.

A digital speckle multi-exposure Photographic technique has been Proposed instead of the traditional technique of using photographic plates for the display of motion baths. The Principle of the proposed method has been described in detail in terms of the Young's fringe model. Two experimental results for the lateral motion and the tilt of the measured are been plasented. The factors which affect the measuring results are analysed.

The testing surface inclination will result in the large measuring error in the displacement measurement using commercial laser triangulation sensors. In this paper, according to the theory of light scattering from rough surfaces, the relationship between the received light power of the laser triangulation sensor and the testing surface inclination is discussed in detail. A method which can be used to measure the inclination angle and the displacement of the testing surface at the same time is given. Depending on the measurement of the inclination angle the measuring error of the displacement can be corrected or minimized. A computer simulation and experimental results are presented.

An analysis is done of the effects of the unsymmetrical structure in differential data channels on noise characteristics for magneto-optical data storage systems. It is found that the capability of differential channels to eliminate common-mode noise is dependent on the match degree of channel parameters. It is also found that the unsymmetrical structure in channels results in the different noise intensities, when the data of "1" and "0" read out.

A novel polarization-optical integration technique is proposed to assemble the module-packaging of the beam array generator, morphological processor, and PROM device by the stacking of building blocks. It is shown that the technique is simple and compact in construction, easy to align, capable for high data density and insensitive to environment.

In this paper, bated on the theory of composited waveguides, the relations between the shape of the crabs-secton of coupling region and polarization sensitivity in wavelength division-multiplexers (WDMs) are analyzed. Then we highlightly compared polarization characteristics of the rectangular cross-section of WDM with those of the elliptical cross-section of WDM, and found that when the ratio of the principal axis to minor axis of ellipse equals 1. 88 the WDMs are insensitive to polarization. The fabricated WDM operating at wavelengths 1480/1550 nm exhibits an isolation above 20 dB, polarization sensitivity of less than 0.1 dB, and excess loss of less than 0.5 dB.

Boron nitride thin films have been prepaied on the (100) surface of silicon substrate by the pulsed ArF excimer laser deposition (PLD) method. The structure and composition of the films have been measured by XRD, FTIR and AES, respectively. The results show that the films are cubic boron nitride (c BN) including small amount of hexagonal boron nitride (h BN). The highest value of Vickers microhardness of the films is about 1580 kg/mm2.

Failure of the high temperature tools includes mainly hot-wearing, oxidizing and hot-fatigue. According to this character, Ni-based high temperature alloy + WC and MCrAlY alloy (M=Ni, Co) + WC are coated on the steel substrate by laser cladding. The observation of microstructure and mechanical perfomance of the claddings have been carried out. The results show that the coatings of Ni-based high temperature alloy + WC have a higher hot strength-hardness than that of MCrAlY alloy + WC, but the latter has better oxidation resistance than that of Ni-based igh temperature alloy +WC. The above two classes of coatings are applied to the seamless tube plugs, as a result, the service life of the plugs has been improved by 1~4 times. Among the coatings, the MCrAlY alloy +10% WC is the best.

A core-cladding waveguide structure of the a-axis, Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 single crystal fiber with step refractive index profile is achieved by a Mg-ion indiffusion process. A laser diode pumped Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 single crystal fiber extracavity frequency doubled laser at room temperature has been developed for the first time. A CW green laser of 10 μW (at 0.532 μm) is obtained under 19 mW (at 1.064 μm) input power.

The properties and temperature distribution of gas discharge in a wide planarwaveguide laser excited by DC are presented. The results of a theoretic analysis and experiments show that the allowed maximum input electric power is propotional to the discharge area for a giving maximum gas temperature increase in the discharge region, and the "area scalling" law is valid in the wide planar-waveguide CO2 laser excited by DC.

The theoretical and experimental studies of the effect of pump power on the outest pulses from a synchronously pumped dye laser under a constant cavity length arereported. It is shown that the optimal cavity length for mode-locking of the synchronously Pumped laser is related to the pump power.

The successful fabrication of the room temperature broad-area InGaAs/InGaAsP separated confinement strained-layer multiple-quantum-well (MQW) pulsed lasers at 1.49 μm emission wavelength using LP-MOVPE is reported. The lowest threshold current density (Jth) at room temperature is 0.3 kA/cm for the cavity length of 2000 μm. The power saturation doesn’t occur yet while the pulsed output power is higher than 500 mW.Furthermore, the threshold current densities of these broad area lasers at varying cavity lengths have been investigated by comparing with those of the room temperature broad-area pulsed DH lasers grown by LP-MOVPE.

The Raman gain coefficient in hydrogen-rare gas mixture is controlled through the collisional broadening of the hydrogen Raman transition by rare-gas molecules. This results in the suppression of the Raman conversion from the first-order Stokes to the secondorder Stokes and the increase in the conversion efficiency for the lower anti-Stokes orders.

In this paper, the differential geometrical mothod is employed to study the propagation properities of light beams. Starting from the curvature of 3- dimensional Riemannian manifold, a new complex space which can contain the information of both geometrical optics and wave optics is built. Furthermore, some examples, in which the complex space is used to analyse beam propagation, are also given.
