Exact expressions of second-and third-order dispersions of optical components in a femtosecond continuous wave mode-locked laser are derived out.The dispersion values and their signs of intracavity main dispersion elements are also calculated.

    It is a new technology to combine the laser with the thin film deposition. Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) films were successfully deposited on the Si(100) and SiO2/Si substrates by pulsed eximer laser (λ=193 nm) deposition at 5 Hz, 4 J/cm2 and then annealed by RTA at various conditions.The structure, composition and thickness of the films were measured by XRD, RBS and ASR respectively.

    The principle of measuring the wavelength of continuous wave tunable laser by using multiple vernier etalons is proposed.A wavemeter was constructed by two VETs and a simple grating monochromator and its accuracy is proved to be better than 1×10-6 by the experiment. Based on these, a novel compact wavemeter constructed by a triple VET was designed.

    The general expression of the optical path function and whole aberration of the variable line spacing concave grating is given. The spectral image of our flat-field grating spectrometer, which employs the HITACHI flat-field grating,is investigated.The typical experimental results of the two operation modes of the spectrometer (i.e. the astigmatic mode and stigmatic mode) are displayed.

    A real-time2 D image differentiation using the transforming function of LCLV is presented. The real-time image differentiating is performed with the nonlinear transforming ability of LCLV only by changing its biasing voltage. The nonlinear property of LCLV is explained from its structure and the experimental results of two methods are given.

    Performances and mechanism of frequency domain optical storage were studied on a highly-efficient organic photon-gated spectral hole burning material Zn-tetrabenzoporphyrin/crotonic acid/phenoxy resin (ZnTBP/CA/PhR) film. Extremely deep holes were burnt on the broat Q(0,0) band. Data writing, reading,erasing and longterm storage at 4.2 K were demonstrated. Photo-product was detected and laser induced donor-acceptor electron transfer was evidenced responsible for the hole formation.

    By using a miniature cavity and KTP cristal,an efficient intracavity frequency doubled Nd:YVO4 laser, "face to face" pumped by a laser diode has been established.The measured single-transversal TEMoo mode and single-longitudinal-mode SHG maximum outputS are 7.3 mW and 1.5 mW respectively.The threshold pump power is 12 mW and a total optical conversion efficiency of 1.9% for the second harmonic generation has beer obtained.

    The diode-laser end-pump lasing of Nd:YVO4 was reported. The low threshold (54 mW) and high output power (TEM00 mode 273 mW) are observed. 41% optical slope efficiency is obtained.The length of Nd:YVO4 crystal is 1 mm with Nd3+ concentration 1%.

    In this paper, optical limiting in C60-toluene solution for ps pulse is studied andproved to be induced from singlet excited-state-absorption. Compared with optical limiting based on triplet excited-state-absorption,this kind of optical limiting has the advantages of lower clamped energy and quicker response. The experimental results coincide with the theoretical calculations.
