A novel method for maintaining circular polarization propagation in twisted birefringence single-mode optical fibre by using altering the twisting unit of fibre is presented. The results of investigating for a 2×2 twisted birefringence single mode optical fibre coupler desinged by this method shows that there is satisfactory circular polarization maintaining coupling between the two fibres.

    In this paper,according to optical basic theory, an analytical solution for nonlinearity of the scanning with tetrahedral column rotation mirror is obtained, and a numerical calculation is made to gain a analysis. A single-chip double-face-mirror two-dimension scannillg system, was designed. The system can overcome effectively the nonlinear feature of polyhedral column rotating-pendulum-mirror, and also bring convenience for succedent computer real image treatment.

    Based on the principles and experimental results of two-beam coupling, the effective carrier density in pure LiNbO3 and Fe:LiNbO3 crystals has been calculated. The result is discussed and it is proposed that oxygen vacancy color center is one of the donors in photorefractive LiNbO3 crystals and the stimulated Fe2+ is a very small part of the Fe2+ in the crystal.

    Results of experimental measurements of domestic step-index silica optical fibers with the different core diameters and same numeral aperture measured as a function of fiber bending radius are presented. Some theoretical analyses are also given.

    The optical storage character in azo dye doped EO-PVA film is reported. The excellent real-time and permanent storage of image information are obtained when the Ar laser is used as light source.The minimum writting power is less than 0.2 W/cm2. The storage mechanism are analyzed and some parameter are given.

    Anisotropic persistent spectral holes with more than 400% of depth were written in and read out on frequency-domain organic optical storage material THP/PMMA using polarizationspectral hole-burning technique. The polarization spectral hole-burning mechanism and anisotropic hole formation process at speed on both theory and experiment are reported in this paper. It shows that the polarization spectral hole-burning technique has a strong potential on the application on frequency-domain optical storage and high resolution spectroscopy in solids.

    Holographic coupling gratings have been frabricaed on the Red Sensitive Photopolymer (RSP) holographic plate with holographic technology. Optical signal is coupled along the total internal reflection angle inside the light-guiding plate and coupled out by the coupling gratings. The one by one point optical interconnections has been realized, its coupling efficiency is 25%.

    The microstructure and wear resistance of laser cladding layers of Ni and Cr on the surface of stainless Steel were studied.It is shown that the microstructure of laser cladding layers is fine and homogenous. There are hardening phases. The wear resistance of the cladding layer is improved markedly.

    High quality nanometric crystalline Si powders were synthesized from high pure SiH4 by high powerful CO2 laser induced gas phase reaction. The powders produCgd have spherical particle shape with uniform particle size, mean particle diameter of 10~120 nm, and the ratio of mean grain and particle diameter between 0.3~0.7. The sizes of the powders increased with the increase of laser power, reaction pressure, but decreased with the increase of silane gas flow rate and the addition of Ar diluent. Grain sizes dropped distinctly with the rise of the addition of Ar gas and laser power, but changed little with the gas flow rate and reaction temperature. The formation of Si particle undergoes the growth of single crystalline particles and the growth by the collision between these particles.

    Stability of the high repetition and high peak powerl frequancy-doubled Nd:YAG lasers with a LiF:F-2 crystal Q-switch is discussed overally. Unstability in the laser resonator, pumping cavity, Xe-lamp,doubler,color center crystal Q-switch and laser spectral line are calculated or measured. Results of theoratical calculation and experimental measurement are shown.

    The Maxwell-Bloch equations describing the class-B lasers were obtained by the Hisonberg equation for the single-mode homogenously broadened travelling laser. The laser system, in which the modulated pump intensity was studied in detail. By numerical calculation, the sequence of positive period-doubling vifurcation and the sequency of reverse chaotic band were observed.In the chaotic band, some of the period windows were found. The temporary behavior of the system was in quasi-period instabilities and chaos motion. In some regions of the parameters, the system lost its stabilities and directly transited into chaos from one limit cycle.

    A series of experment results about 0.95 μm Wavelength high energy luminous peak in 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP laser ware reported in this paper.And by physics analysis to these data,we can be sured that the Auger compound of InGaAsP active region is the major cause of carrier leakage toward the two sides of InP restricted layer.It is also the major factor to reduce the To of 1.55 μm InGaAsP/InP DH laser.

    The experimental result of LD pumped Nd:YVO4 laser was reported. When input laser power is 320 mW, its output laser power is up to 78.8 mW, light to light conversion efficiency is up to 24.6%.

    In this paper, the reasons of window pollution are reported, it is mainly deposition coating from the molybdenum electrode spraying and the copper atom spreading. For a domestic 10 W copper vapor laser, after being operated 100 kWh, we measured that the proportion of molybdenum and copper of the coating was about 3:1 by chemical method and the window transmissivity reduced continually from 80% to 65%. In addition, the influence of window pollution on the output power is discussed. At last, the window pollution is reduced by means of prolonging the tube nearby the anode side, and the improving has been used in practice.

    A model of resonance energy transferring among Ti3+ ions in Ti:A12O3 crystal was setup according the Dexter theory of sensitization luminescence, from with the critical distance Rc of Ti3+ ions were estimated, between which concentration quenching could take place and the correspondent doping concentration Nc. By the comparison with the measured spectra data, obvious concentration quenching has not been observed even if the doping level reaches 1.28×1020 cm-3 (or 0.38wt%).

    A novel infrared laser dye absorbing at 1270 nm was synthesized. The properties of switching and mode-locking for different laser were investigated. It can Q-switch 1064 nm and 1079 nm lasers satisfactorily with tetrachloroethylene and PMMA film. The pulsewidths are 4~7 ns. It's DMSO solution showes excallent ability in mode-locking 1079 nm and 1340 nm laser. The pulse-widths are 30~50 ps.
