A new type Cs atomic resonance filter (ARF) datected by field ionization was reported. Theoretical analysis gives that the atomic inherent time response is of 1 ns, quantum efficiency is of 99% and line width is of 60 MHz. Preliminary measurement gives that the ARF's time response are of 130 ns, 120 ns and 120 ns; and critical signal laser energy is of 10 nJ for each pulse.

A method and its relative apparatus of using laser fluorescence to measure the two dimensional density flux ditribution of the atomic vapor in vacuum chamber is introduced in this paper. The experiment shows: the distribution rule of two dimensional density flux in the vapor model of 4 mm× 6 mm is independent of the heating power, and it can be described in the 6th power of cosine distribution, and the density flux varies linearly with the heating power approximately.

The influence of He, Ne, Ar, H2 on the intensity of 2p1→1s2 transition was studied by a single photon counting system. The relaxation rate constants of the NeI 2p1 by collision with He , Ne atoms and Penning reaction with Ar, H2 were obtained.

A detailed description of the effect of coupling area on the branching ratio of optical fiber directional coupler is given. The effect is calculated theoretically. The fiber directional couplers with continuously varible branching ratio have been fabricated.

The modulation characteristics of guidedwave electrooptical devices with traveling wave phase reversal structures was analyzed. The performances of devices with two kinds of electrodes, asymmetric strip line electrode (ASL) and coplanar waveguide electrode (CPW)were compared. Numerical calculation shows that effective modulation of lightwave can be realized even through the ASL is applied to the phase reversal structures.

In this paper, Annular aperture cone glass shearing laser speckle photography used for measuring the derivatives of displacements is proposed for the first time. The derivatives of displacements in all directions can be recorded simulataneously on one double exposed specklegram in one step , and the information of every direction can be obtained by whole-field filtering.

Homogeneous thin films of phthalocyanine compound were prepared by vapor deposition method and were found to be writable with He-Ne laser beam on phthalocyanine (MPc) films. The threshold irradiation time for writing the recording spots was 250 ns with He-Ne laser of 7.8 mW power at the wavelength of 632.8 nm. This indicates that the reflectance of MPc films is about 20% and the absorptance are falls in 550 to 900 nm. The relationship between the structure and optical storage properties were discussed. The laser power and irradiation time increase as the in side chain phthalocyanine molecule increases.

A non-destructive remote technique for obtaining depth profile of laser processed metals by laser- induced IR photothermal radiometry is reported. Applications to the inspection of laser processed Zr-2. 5Nb alloy samples are presented. Depth profiles obtained from this method are consistent with the profiles obtained from destructive methods such as microhardness testing.

In this paper, a method of time-resolved divergence measurement using an aperture is reported. With this method, we measured the evolution of the beam divergence of output pulse from an injection locking copper vaper laser (CVL) of magnification M=10 (M=30 for oscillator). The experimental results show that the beam divergence becomes smaller and smaller reducing from 1.0 mrad to 0.12 mrad. The experimental results are analysed.

In this paper, the experimental set-up used for measuring the light output noise of a laser diode has been established. A weak electrical noise and light output noise can be measured by using the cross-spectrum approach. Experimental results obtained for 30 Vgroove InP/InGaAsP lasers at frequency region from 1 Hz to 100 kHz demonstrated that the light output noise and electrical noise is correlative in the superradiation region, and its spectrum form is also similar. According to the mechanism of light excitation in LD, the light output noise has been discussed. The theoritical analysis shows that the light output noise is separated into two parts, one caused by carriers fluctuation is full correlative with electrical noise, another caused by light quantum fluctuation is uncorrelative with electrical noise.

By introducing the concept of intensity-averaging, the mechamism of high power Raman amplification with an angular pump beam is analyzed. The analyzed results show that an angular pump beam is more efficient than collinear propogation for the pump intensity-averaging and the pump energy extracting by a short pulse seed beam. The experimental results on parameters of the pressure and the angle between pump and seed beams are then presented.
