A new method to cool atoms is proposed and discussed in theory. The parameters on this method are also given.The atomic beams slowed by repeatedly crossing a resonant laser beam at a conical angle. The results show that not only almsost all the atoms below 1200 m/s are cooled to 81 m/s, but also a high density monochromatic velocity atomic beam can be obtained.

    Reported here is a new optical fiber displacement sensor based on the principles of laser diode linear frequency-modulation heterodyne interference and frequency-division multiplexing technique. Many points displacement can be measured at the same time. The measurement range of displacement is ±1 mm with an accuray of ±0.15 μm(3σ). The influence of light intensity on measurement accuracy is studied.

    A new method for the diagnostics of the welding arc temperature fields is studied on the basis of Plasma physics, laser speckle photography. Both distribution of temperature and electron density in a plane of the argon arc fields are reconstructed.

    An optical method is proposed to implement 2-D image fuzzy associative memory. By spatially area-encoding fuzzy matrices, the max-min composed operation needed by fuzzy associative memory is realized in a multiple-imaging system. The experimental results are also given.

    The shortage of signal Omegs optical interconnection network is analyzed, and a optical implementation method of full-permutation non-blocking double Omega interconnection network is proposed in this paper. The light circuit system is composed of Ar+3 ion laser, beamsplitter, compound Polarization beam splitter and liquid crystal spatial light switch, parallel transfer for input signal beam array and full-permutution non-blocking optical interconnection are realized.

    A method of making the double-inclination compound hologrsphic minors (DICHM) is proposed in order to increase protective angle of the spetacle against laser in this peper.The Protective angle is twice as large as that one of single holograhic minor. Experimental results show that the optical density of DICHM at the wavelength 0.53 μm is in the range 2.3 to 3.5 and the transmission of visible light is forger than 60% as the incidence angle varies from -30° to 27°.

    It is demonstrated that the residual stress in the fur face layer of martensite stainless steel treated by laser surface melting(LSM)is not always compressive under the condition of extreme multi-pass laser scanning. The sign of the residual stresses depends on the relative size of melting Pool to overlapping zone. When the surface width of the overlapping zone is larger than half of surface width of the melting Pool, there exists obvious compressive stress in the surface layer, otherwise, too small overlapping zone will result in surface tensile stress.

    Carbon concentration( 1017 cm-3) in the exhaust gas of a gasoline engine was measured by means of fluorescence nitensities of C2 radical at 3пx→3пg transition induced by XeCl laser pumped dye laser. The effect of different air-fuel ratio on the C2 concentrationwas also studied.

    This paper provides a model of laser action due to the nonlinear coupling between lightfield and oscillator(boson elementary excitation in medium).The threshold behavior of this kind of laser is demonstrated in detail, which possesses the typical feature of the second-order transition as that of the laser model associated with the interaction of lightfield and two-level atoms.

    The thermal lenses in operating copper vapor lasers and in the fused silica windows were measured by using of the deflection method and the interferometer method respectively.Experimental results show that the overall thermal Jens is composed of a negative lens in the discharge gas and two postive lenses in two pieces of laser windows. Theoretical analysis agrees well with experimental results.

    Chaos operation in a signle-longitudinal mode,multi-transverse mode CW CO2 laser caused by injected light have been studied experimentally. Tragectories in Phase-space, which of system evolving into chaos, are observed by diffential reconstructing Phase-space picture method,and some various-shape strange attractors are observed for the first time.The mechanism of laser instabilities is discussed.

    Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 waveguides have been fabricated by proton-exchange method. To obtain the atomic composition profiles of the waveguide, the SIMS (second ion mass spectrum) of the planer waveguide was measured. The absorption spectra of Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 crystal and the fluorescence spectra induced in the channel waveguide and subetrate were measured respectively.

    The experimental and calculation results of spetroscopic parameters (Ar,β,τm,τr,Δλ,σ,) of Tm3+ ions in ZBLAN are given.Emission spectra(UV-NIR)of Tm3+ ions under different excitation wavelengths, the fluorescence lifetime and emission intensity as a function of Tm3+ doped concentration were reported.Enersy transfer process between Tm3+ ions are discussed in detail.

    The resonant spectra around 810 um wavelength of a Nd-glass microsphere was simulated theoretically. By the comparison between theoretical results and experimently observed spectrum,the QED structures emerging in experiment was identyfied, which shows that the cavity modes of orders 15 and 16 dominate the spectrum.

    The Fokker-Plank equation for probability density of the arrival-angle fluctuations,which is Statisfied with the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, is derived by making use of the Markovian random process approximation for arrival-angle fluctuations and geometrical optics approximation for laser propagation in atmospheric turbulence. The Rician probebillty distribution density function of the arrival-angle fluctuations that relies on the propagating distance is obtained.A discussion of the Statistics of the intensity fluctuations caused by the angle of arrival fluctuations of a narrow laser beam was given.

    36 cases of crystal hyaline corex emulsification operations for immature cataract with YAG laser are reported in this peper. According to the basic theory of intetaction between laser and tissues, the mechanism of laser induced hyaline cortex emulaification in the operation is discussed, and it is put forward that the mechanical effect of laser plasma shock wave and Photochemical effect of plasma flailing on eye tissues result in the crystal hyaline conex tissue protein degeneration and coagulation.
