A method of improving the caculating speed of particle size distribution by reducing the number of photosensitive rings is proposed. Through analysis of light energy distribution diffracted by the particle and its derivation, a new formula of size class is introduced and the minimun of photosensitive rings is obtained. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation demonstrate that the accuracy and measuring range of particle size with 6 rings is almost the same as those with 15 rings. The method is verified through practical measurements for 8 standard latices. It is very suitable for caculating particle size distribution with model dependent.

In this paper, experimental study using liquid crystal light valve to record binary phase-only filters is reported. The results show that liquid crystal light valve has high efficient optical reconstruction when used as BPOF. Also given is a simple technique to generate binary phase-only filters with CCD camera, PC/XT computer and photographic film.

A real- time color debugging pseudocolor encoding for phase objects is realized when an phase object is filtered and is written into a liquid crystal light valve then read out by white light. Its principle is discussed using a simplified hybrid field effect mode of liquid crystal light valve. Some typical pseudocolor encoding results are presented.

The effect of coloured egg by race, dosage and temperatur on the survival rate was studied. The results showed the laser-induced-colored egg rate reaches 55%. This experiment showed that the newly hatched larvae were all female from the eggs of parthenogensis of silkworm by laser Irradiation. Compared with their parents, the offsprings exhited sluggish larva grow-up, the cocoon quality improved and the deformed silkworms were faw in the rearing tests.

A new method to extract identical and different parts of two images is proposed. Two monchromatic beams modified by the processed images interfere to form a hologram from which the identical or different parts are reconstructed. In our method, multiplication of images and the Stokes principle are applied. The optical setup is simple and easy to align. Real-time processing can be achieved if photorefractive material is used. Experimental results are presented.

This paper, presents the mechanism of the mode interaction for single longitudinal mode operation of a diode laser with an external cavity, based on the rate equation approach. Due to the coupling term of the four-wave mixing, the mode interaction has a symmetric effect on the submodes, inducing the gain suppression on them.

In this paper, the dependences of dynamic stability, mode property and character of output power on the dynamic factor for a solid laser resonater with a thermal lens is analyzed, and the conditions of stable-mode output and stable-power output under general case are also given. Experimentally the high TEM00 power output of CW Nd : YAG laser operating in the stable-power state is obtained for the first time.

This paper describes the characteristics of wavelength scanning of a ring dye laser coupled with a SPPCM and the reflectivity under an external field. Experiments demonstrats that the wavelength self-scanning rate and the direction can be controlled by adding an external field if it scans initially towards the shorter wavelength. It is also found that the reflectivity of SPPCM is increased with the wavelength scanning towards the longer wavelengths.

The theory of the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) of the pulse train of the high power laser is discussed. The gain expression of the Stokes light pulse is given, our results show that the memory effect is very important in high gain region and the Stokes light exists in the lead edge of pulses.

Theoretical weighted oscillator strengths and radiative transition probabilities for 1S2 nl(n=2-6,l=0-5) configurations in Li-like Cu ion are computed with the aid of the HFR program developed by R. D. Cowan. The ab initio energy paramaters are optimised on the basis of experimental energy levels. The excellent agreement are obtained between the calculated wavelenthgths and the measured ones.

Fe/C/Si ultrafine particles (UFP) were synthesized by laser induced vapor-phase reaction method with a 150 W CW CO2 laser as light source and SiH4, C2H4 and Fe(CO)5 as rawmaterials. The instantaneous temperature of the reaction flame was measured by a SCIT infrared thermometer. The effects of processing parameters on this temperature have been studied. Detailed characterization of samples is presented, including chemical analysis, FT-IR, TEM and XRD results.
