The principles, design and characteristics of high performance single pulse selectors for lasers with three kinds of avalanche transistor driver are described. They have low jitter(107 shots), short delay (about 20ns), high probability of selecting single pulse (100%) , and high signal/noise ratio of selected single pulse (103).

    The results of light damage in. LN and Mg: LN substrate waveguide by holographic method are reported. The waveguide were made by Ti-diffusion and proton exchange methods. The resistance to light damage of Mg:LN is stronger than that of the pure LN, and the resistance of light damage of the waveguide by proton exchange is stronger than that by Ti-diffusion.

    The reflection and transmission coefficients of the plane wave at the birefringent surface were deduced. Also developed was the expressions and numerical method to calculate the reflectance distribution, versus the polar coordinates for the multiple layers which consist of several birefrinsrent films or substrates.

    The process of SiH4/Ar breakdown irradiated by frequency tunable TEA CO2 laser has been studied. The breakdown threshold of SiH4/Ar has been measured as a funotiou. of laser energy, laser frequency and gas pressure. Based on the experimental results, the physical process of 8iH4/Ar breakdown is proposed to be a process of optic-breakdown through resonant absorption of laser beams.

    By Kurtz's powder technique^ we have studied the SHG properties of fifty organic compounds, which include derivatives of p-ni troaniline, 2,4-dinitroaniline, p-ni troo-phenyldia-mine, diphenyl, azobenzene, diphenyl ether and diphenyl sulfide. Eight of them are found tc be promising practical nonlinear organic materials.

    The fluorescence quantum yield of new photosensitizer-aluminum sulfonated phthalosyanine (AISPC) was measured as 0.53, 21 times higher than that of HPD. which shows that AISPC has potential usage in tumor detection. In vivo measurement on mouse by using He-Ne laser induced fluorescence showed that, AISFC can selectively retain in 8-180 tare cm a, and the maximum tumor; normal tissue ratio achieved 24-36 h after AISPC injection is about 2.5:1.

    Nd:TAG laser of 3mJ, 10ns, and 15um was used to make 30 points of anterior capsulotomy arranged in a circle on the lenses of 14 chinchilla rabits (28 eyes). Tonometrics, anterior segment fluorescein angiographies, aqueous protein centents, and ERG and Mstologica] examinations were done at intervals before and after the operation. The mechanism of IOP elevation after operation was discussed.

    Nonlinear holographic interferometer is combined with multi-path holographic interfero meter ,and a phass object is insarted in a combination of Mach-Zehnder interferometer and Twyman-Green interferometer, and the phase difference is amplified. Higher magnification may be obtained with this method than that in nonlinear holographic interferometer. Finally, the experimental results are given.

    The pulse energy of c-bsam controlled disoharge CO2 lagsr is 50 J. The diameter of light spot is 60 ram and after being foeusad it bscomes to 20 mm. The induced doping of stibium (Sb) or aluminium (Al) in silicon (Si) is carried out by CO2 laser. A shallower of p-n janctionwith a diamatar of 10-15mm (mix. 20 mm) and a dapth of 0.2-0.7um is obtained. Photo-voltage of p-n junction is about 500 mV.

    The influence of rare-earth metal oxide coating on the process of laser strengthening of east iron was studied systematically. It was shown that rare-earth metal oxide effi-cientely improve the structure and wear resistance of laser strengthened area.

    Three compositions Mg-Al laser cladding alloys have bean obtained on pure Mg substrate, preliminary p hase constitutions were identified, the effect of laser processing parameters upon the microstructure was investigated. The results indicates that the nonequilibrium Mg alloys are different from the corresponding equilibrium alloys to a great extent in respacL of phase constitutions, fractions of phases and solid solubility due to the quick cooling associated with laser cladding. The constitutions and solid solubility can be controlled by changing the laser processing parameters in order to yield the nonequilibrium alloys with desired microstructure and properties.

    The electric dipole radiative transition, probabilities between levels nili - nklk (ni<5, nk<12)for Li-like Si have been calculated within multi-configuration Dirac-Fock framework, and the radiative decay rates of the levels (n<6) were obtained. The new regularity was found for the transition of Li-like Si.

    This paper investigates the dipole squeezing of a two-level atom interacting with a single-mode thermal radiation field at thermal equilibrium in a ideal cavity, and discusses the influence of the temperatures of the cavity on the dipole squeezing.

    By means of extended average level model of relativistic multi-configuration Dirac-Fosk code, we have calculated 33 fine-structuie energy levels of 2s22p5, 2s2p6, 2s22p3s, 2s22p43p configuration and 54 transition wavelengths of 3s-3p for IP-like ions of 33≤Z≤40, which may be the candidates for lasing action. Greater part of the calculated values are firstly predicted.
